Was Bhindranwale A Terrorist Or A Hero?

Recommended Posts

wow thank you so much everyone, this is more than i excepted!! lol. sure i can use those photos as sources. so from parts i just read ( i too will print out at college and read fully) i guess there was probably some censorship of what Bhindranwale what really like yeh? and the government prehaps made him out to be a terrorist? i have the book the gallant defender, but unfortunalty because it was written by Sikhs, the source would be consideed bias, and as part of my c/w task, i have to look at both sides of the argument. ... oh, also could anyone maybe give me a summary of yhe atmoshpere in India, Panjab during the time leading up to Operation Bluestar...i mean the hostility towards sikhs? and why this hostility occurred? thank you so much brothers and sisters, this helps me sooooo much  thumbs_up.gif

i just downloaded a file 1984 News.wmv which has 80 minutes of footage from 1984

i allready knew how badly the media potrays sikhs and Bhindranwale also spoke of this but watching this video and listening to the same types of words over again makes you wonder what non-sikhs thought during that time

I think discussing the media's affect on the image of Bhindranwale would make a very important piece of your paper

it's like i said before, how do you discredit someone who only wanted Sikhs to become better Sikhs and to be treated fairly and who's forced to attack (verbally) the justice system of india because of their policies

An off topic question....

Akaal productions made a new clip from the song "blood for blood"

in that clip there is a interview with Sant Bhindranwale on the end.

Does anyone has this one?

I never saw it before.

Well anyone? grin.gif

If your fighting against tyranny does it really matter how old you are? If it did how come the khalsa army didnt only have young fit men (20-40). And you say that the shaheeds were 13-14 years old.....Amar Shaheed Baba Jujhar Singh Ji was 14 when he attained shaheed <_< .....he was not sent away for protection but instead came to beg to guru ji to let him go out fighting.

Also in addition to this when satguru sri guru tegh bahadhur sahib ji was born he was named 'Tyag Mal', meaning the Epitome of Relinquishment. However when he was about 12 years old he proved to be a great gladiator in a battle against Painda Khan at Kartarpur and when Satguru Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji saw this he called 'Tyag Mal' and said to him from this day you will be know as Tegh Bahadhur

Sat Sri Akal:

Guru Gobind Singh Ji sent his older Sahibzadae on combat missions with them as Generals of the army. At that time, I believe that Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji was 13 years of age.

The two younger Sahibzadae were not sent away for protection...they were separated from the main Sikh Fauj during the escape from Anandpur Sahib.

waheguru ji kekhalsa, waheguru j kefateh

Pyare jio, I would also add another dimention to your work. "Bindrawale- terrorist or Protector".

If I was doing the paper i would add a section discussing terrorism. A terrorist is a person who directly terrorises people, inflicts harm or the threat of harm. Then look at the facts of punjab.

Mass movement by sikhs between 1947 - 1978 - always remained peaceful.

Violence entered the movement by Nirankaris, not sikhs by killing Bhai fauja Singh and 12 other gursikhs in 1978.

Bindrawale comes to the fore and vioce of the Sikhs.

Sikhs killed in Khapur, Delhi during protests.

Lawlessness enters punjab.

1984 and Bindrawale is shaheed.

Thousands killed in Operation Blue star, Operation Woodrose.

Delhi riots killing 10-15,000 sikhs across India.

20 years of genocide in Punjab.

With so much terror and murder, how much can be directly linked to Baba ji. Very little.

The reality is the one who terrorised and murdered were the goevrnment machinery. It was they who were resposnible for 1978, 1984, Operation Woodrose, Delhi Riots, and genocide in Punjab.

The only people who made Baba ji a terrorist were the government bias press. The facts are clear, who did the killing, rape, and genocide...

waheguru ji kekhalsa, waheguru ji ke fateh

P.S. Some the info above in inaccuarte. Shaheed Sukhdev Singh babbar and Bibi Amarjit kaur did not oppose Baba Ji. These were divisive rumours sent out by government agents to divide sikhs. These points have been addressed in previous posts. To see them search their names. The real stories have come out form directly interviewing people, not just coping others history books.

    • Brother, the reason we (or at least, some Sikhs) do Aarti of Guru Sahib is because we worship Guru Sahib. The reason it's a "big deal" is because it's spiritual adultery. Even if it were accepted that you can do aarti of a saint or elder, they are not doing that. They are not doing Aarti of Lord Vishwakarma, but rather of a picture of Vishwakarma, which sets them up for the spiritual transgression of idol worship. Guru Nanak Dev ji on idol worship: ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ Salok Mehalaa 1 || ਸਾਰੰਗ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ: (ਮਃ ੧) ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅੰਗ ੧੨੪੦  ਘਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਸਭਾ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ In your home, is the Lord God, along with all your other gods. ਪੂਜ ਕਰੇ ਰਖੈ ਨਾਵਾਲਿ ॥ You wash your stone gods and worship them. ਕੁੰਗੂ ਚੰਨਣੁ ਫੁਲ ਚੜਾਏ ॥ You offer saffron, sandalwood and flowers.   ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮਨਾਏ ॥ Falling at their feet, you try so hard to appease them.   ਮਾਣੂਆ ਮੰਗਿ ਮੰਗਿ ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਖਾਇ ॥ Begging, begging from other people, you get things to wear and eat. ਅੰਧੀ ਕੰਮੀ ਅੰਧ ਸਜਾਇ ॥ For your blind deeds, you will be blindly punished. ਭੁਖਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਰਦਿਆ ਰਖੈ ॥ Your idol does not feed the hungry, or save the dying. ਅੰਧਾ ਝਗੜਾ ਅੰਧੀ ਸਥੈ ॥੧॥ The blind assembly argues in blindness. ||1|| ਸਾਰੰਗ ਵਾਰ (ਮਃ ੪) (੯) ਸ. (੧) ੧:੮ - ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ : ਅੰਗ ੧੨੪੧ ਪੰ. ੨
      Raag Sarang Guru Nanak Dev   Guru Arjan Dev ji in Raag Bharo: ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ Mehala 5 || ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਕਹਤੇ ਦੇਵ ॥ Those who call a stone their god ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ॥ Their service is useless. ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਂਈ ਪਾਇ ॥ Those who fall at the feet of a stone god ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਅਜਾਂਈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ - their work is wasted in vain. ||1||   The people who do this (idol worship) will sink in the worldly ocean: ਕਬੀਰ ਪਾਹਨੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਪੂਜੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ Kabeer, someone sets up a stone idol and all the world worships it as the Lord. ਇਸ ਭਰਵਾਸੇ ਜੋ ਰਹੇ ਬੂਡੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਧਾਰ ॥੧੩੬॥ Those who hold to this belief will be drowned in the river of darkness. ||136|| ਸਲੋਕ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ (ਭ. ਕਬੀਰ) (੧੩੬):੨ - ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ : ਅੰਗ ੧੩੭੧ ਪੰ. ੧੫

    • Like I said maybe they shouldn't have been doing Aarti, not in the Gurdwara anyway. But the picture in itself shouldn't be a problem. Mahapurkhs have been known to keep pictures of Devi Devte, they weren't allergic to imagery, especially imagery you could say that makes up "Dharam" as a whole. Maybe not the picture shown in the video, but such imagery was commonplace and is part of our heritage. As is evident from the small selection of pictures I posted. The level of Hinduphobia amongst our people borders on idiocy.
    •   Was this posted by "Sikh Youth Birmingham" as an example of proper Sikh maryada, or as an example of what not to do?
    • I'ma tell his desi dad right now. We'll hear it from here.
    • Yes and you cant ever leave the gurdwara cause if you do you are a sinner
