Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!

Dear Veerjee,

We understand your concerns and we are not outside of them. Many Gursikhs have fallen victim and are still victims of the five thieves of Kaam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, and Ahankaar. They are called thieves (punj chor) for a reason.

They steal away all of your naam and baanee kamaee, everything that you spent so much time and love to earn. They waste it on cheap disgusting ideas, thoughts and actions. They leave you feeling depressed, alone, and without a place to turn to.

However, in the saadhsangat, there is no chance of this happening. Veerjee, we strongly encourage you to take the following steps to cure this problem:

1) In the morning after you do your nitnem, stand in front of Guru Ji one day, and make a solemn promise. Think in your mind that in front of you Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the king of the universe, is sitting there listening to your promise. Say it verbally, tell Guru jee what you have been doing. Describe everything you have done to Guru jee. You might start to cry. That's too bad. This is called "facing your actions." Once you face them, you can realize the problem within them.

Stand there and say all of the things you have thought and done, and then apologize to Guru jee for drifting from the path of Sikhi and promise Guru jee that it won't happen again. Tell Guru jee that because of this folly, you have a commitment. You will give yourself a "punishment" (which is actually a reward), called "thankhaa" which means wages. This will be a certain amount of simran or paath or whatever you think is right for your situation.

>

If you have commited a kurehit, or if your heart feels like doing so, you can instead go to the Punj Pyare and get a "thankhaa" from them.

2) In your mind keep the shabads "Par triyaa roop na paykhai naytr" and "jam kaa dandd karaaraa bhaee" in your mind always.

3) Veerjee, NEVER let another person insult you and your Guru by making fun of your dastaar and pulling it out. BEFORE this happens again - let those people know you will not tolerate that behaviour in the future. Don't take any of this abuse, give your last warning right away. After that, if they don't listen, you will need to talk with your school principal and file an assault complaint. If you don't do this, those people will continue to do these things.

4) GET RID OF THOSE FAKE FRIENDS! Try to find saadhsangat. Try to find Gursikhs who are into Sikhi. If there aren't any in your school, try to find Christians, Muslims, Hindus who are faithful to their religion and will respect you for being faithful to your religion. Do not associate with bad sangat.

5) Keep in touch. Keep in touch with sikhsangat forum people, with us (W!N ADMIN), and with all of the other Sikh services out there. They are here to help you. They are all tools that Guru jee is using to help you. Please make use of them.

I hope this has been helpful. If we made any mistakes in this post please forgive us.

In the Spirit of Panthic Ektha & Chardee Kalaa,

ADMIN Sevadaars

The thorn bush waves in the wind, and pierces the banana plant; see this, and do not associate with the faithless cynics. ||88||

Jee,

I did some research for you.

I really truly think this will help you.

http://www.slaafws.org/about.html

read the 12 steps.

http://www.slaafws.org/literature.html#pamphlets

read these:

Addiction and Recovery

Anorexia

Withdrawal

I know these are not quite meant for this, but there are so many parallels that could be drawn, perhaps it can help you.

Bhajee, the problems you are facing now is just one battle in the long war to win control of the mind. Remember that "Man Jeetae Jag Jeet". All Gurmukhs will face these tests at some stage. These 5 thieves are there as a test for us all to our devotion and pyaar to Guru Jee and Waheguru. Whenever you are progressing spiritually, they come back twice as hard to defeat you in your Nitnaem and Simran.

Even very spiritually accomplished have fallen to the lures of Kaam. The good thing is that you have recognised your weakness and are trying your utmost to defeat it. Best advice is to try and stay in Good Sangat as much as possible. Firstly your mind does not have the opportunity to think about Kaam. Secondly, the benefit of the time spent in Sangat increases your resolve to fight Kaam.

Dear Brother Palvinder Singh Jee

The sangat on this site have given you some brilliant ways to keep Kaam away, however one way that I think would really help, when you are online and using your computer is listening to bani.

Lets face it we spend a lot of time on the net and we need the computer for all our uni work etc and its so hard not to use it, so as soon you come online, start listening to bani, there is tonnes of gurbani and keertan you can listen to. When you will have bani in the background you won't possibly be able to go on any dodgy sites.

Try www.gursikhijeevan.com for all the bani/ www.sikhifm.com for tonnes of shabad keertan!

May our true guru blesses you, don't worry you are not on your own you have more brothers and sisters than you even realise, and most importantly Our Satguru Maharaj who is ALWAYS blessing us. pray.gif

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
