Shorts & Gurdwara ?

Was thinking about this the other day. More and more women are wearing short skirts to the gurdwara with bare legs. It's kind of uncomfortable when they are bending over and doing matha tek in front of you I just end up standing 3 meters behind them and once shes gone then I walk forward and do matha tek. It's even more uncomfortable when there is a lot of sangat at gurdwara and you have some girl in a short skirt bending over in front of you, it's like what do I do? Do I walk walk forward and matha tek or do I just look down and wait for her to go. Lol  especially when there are elders sitting in sangat too. 

Recently I saw this girl wearing a skirt and one of those tops that slip of your shoulders. But then again there is no dress code in the gurdwara other than shoes off and heads covered.

But surely if you've got your head covered out of respect you should cover the rest of yourself out of respect too! It doesn't really make sense otherwise.

I don't think there is any dress code in sikhi in general though, but then where do you draw the line?

Sure, people say "What are you talking about?" "That's insane!". But if our Gurus gave both men and women equal status in society and in practising religion, then why not?

Here's the thing, people say "Oh, if women wear shorts to the Gurdwara, then it creates kaam for men". Well, don't you think its the same for women? :T: If you wear shorts, they will also be distracted to look at you, and if you got a fit body, they would get kaam as well.

So it all depends on the individual, let me kno what you guys think? Bhul chuk maaf karnee!!

basically the same silly girls if invited to see the Queen at buckingham palace would be wearing a posh suit, lengha or longer length dress to look elegant and classy ....just goes to show the mentality towards Guru ji ,' it's not like there's a person/ King  but a book so why bother'

This girl from another religion told me that one should become an ambassador of God in a world where godless-ness is fast spreading, So it's important to dress modestly to represent your faith and respect for God.

I think ones outfit is an expression of who they are. If one feels like a s1ut then they will dress like a s1ut be it in the gurdwara or the high street. 

It's ones choice if they want to represent their faith and respect for God and dress modestly or if one wants to be an ambassador of s1uts and dress like a s1ut

Where are you lot from? I have never seen a short skirt in the Gudwaras I have been to

Near London. I go gurdwara like 3 or 4 times a week so I see all sorts. Now and then you see females wearing skirts with bare legs, tops slipping of their shoulders..

Once in the langar hall I saw this s1ut with blonde bleached hair wearing a short t shirt with most of her lower back showing, you could also see the trashy tattoo above her bum.

They basically s1uts who are going to breed and raise the future generation of s1uts.

To be honest you shouldn't paint people with the same brush, some people just dress that but does not make them what you say.

Totally against them doing it in a Gudwara, just a quick question, have you ever approached one of these girls and asked them why they feel the need to dress that way?

They might be feeling very insecure about themselves.
