I am going to start working again soon after two years of being jobless! i am in my 20s and had series anxiety problems, i was on medication too! I am going to start working again, its only a small job but its a start. In these 2 years off i have been getting close to Sikhi and want to help our sikligar brothers. I know there are Sikh charities out there to help them but i'm just wondering which one is the best in helping them out? As much as i would love to go India and help them out i really can't do that right now, so was just thinking which charity to donate too ...

At my local Gurdwara people can give unwanted clothes and pandey/kitchen stuff which will be sent too Sikligar Sikhs. I have lots of old clothes which i have hardly worn like tracksuits, hoodies, tshirts etc, which i thought i would give to the gurdwara rather than throwing them away but my mum turned around and said no! she said she's going to give them to my cousins in India when we visit them!

Thank you

This is what we do, I’ve donated clothes to Sikhligar before and was deciding yesterday again, as we have more. Why doesn’t your mother want you to donate to them ?   Do you have their number ? Call them and ask how things should be donated and any questions you may have.

If your mother wants to give them to your cousins, then that’s ok too. You may split them and give half to them and half to charity.

Amritsar, November 13

The SGPC dispatched ration to support the 1,830 needy Sikligar Sikh families living in Rajasthan on Friday.

Ration and other essential items were dispatched in five trucks, which carried 457 quintal wheat, 183 quintal rice, 91 quintal pulses, and 2,000 blankets in the presence of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and others.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said the SGPC had been constantly making efforts for the welfare of the Sikligar Sikh families, who are an important part of the Sikh community and work was being done for their welfare regularly.

“The ration has been dispatched to the needy families living in Hanumangarh, Tehalwada, Alwar, Khairthal, Sri Ganganagar, Musani, Kishangarh, Bharatpur, Jaipur and other places in Rajasthan,” said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

She said the SGPC was already assisting the children of Sikligar Sikhs in their education under which school fee was being provided to them in states including Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh among others.

Rajasthan is also home to a large number of Sikligar Sikh families and the All-India Rajasthan Sikligar Sikh Sabha, Alwar, had raised a demand for ration for the needy families. — TNS
