Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is just yoga to help control the rise of Kundalini Power really, using it as a tool to reach Akaal isn't right but using it to help control its flow and promote a healthy spiritual lifestyle isn't wrong. Heck, in some instances Gurbani is so strong that it starts to move the Kundalini to the point that the practitioner can't really handle it, in these instances this is a handy tool to help control the influx and movement of chakras, providing you don't have a Sant to help you out ;)

The Kundalini is the pool of energy that lies deep in the body.  This energy is the vital force within that gives us the energy to do everything that we do.  In sleep it creates dreams.  When we are awake it allows us to see hear speak etc.

It is the Kundalini Shakti that creates anger within us as well as libido.  Yogi's of India knew of secret ways to awaken this energy and channel it upwards through the 7 chakras remaining  within the Sukhman nerve reaching to the secret tenth door.

The yoga is various ways to do this through breath control, postures, meditation and severe penance.

However not only is this very dangerous for the novice practitioner, the enlightening only remains until the Kundalini Shakti remains elevated.  It doesn't completely eradicate the ego.

Sikhism teaching is that through naam and the living of the teachings of the Gurus and through sadhsangat the chakras that are upside down blossom and the Kundalini Shakti arises in sehaj (steady equilibrium).

The Gurus teachings are that there is no need for severe penance and postures and yoga techniques.

For example Gurbani states

Kundalini suljee sadhsangatee.

"I have become aware of the Kundalini Shakti whilst in the sadhsangat"

I agree with this. There is no need to go into details of strange and esoteric chakras, shaktis, and so forth.

All that a Sikh needs to do is to practice the amrit rehit given by Panj Piyare, and he will reach spiritual levels with ease, and not with specific exercises to "make the Kundalini rise".

Gurmat yoga as described by Bhai Gurdas ji:

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਰਨਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ।

Gurasikh Jogee Jaagaday Maaiaa Andari Karani Udaasee |

Yogi Sikhs of the Guru are ever awake and remain detached amidst maya.

Kanneen Mundaraan Mantr Gur Santaan Dhoorhi Bibhoot Su Laasee |

Gurumantr for them is the earring and the dust of the feet of saints is ashes for them.

Khinthha Khimaa Handdhaavanee Praym Patr Bhaau Bhugati Bilaasee |

Forgiveness is their patched blanket, love their begging bowl and devotion is their trumpet (sitig),

Sabad Surati Sinee Vajai Dandaa Giaanu Dhiaanu Gur Daasee |

knowledge is their staff, and obedience to the Guru is their meditation.

Saadhsangati Gur Gudhai Bahi Sahaji Samaadhi Agaadhi Nivaasee |

Sitting in the cave in the form of holy congregation, they reside in unfathomable equipoise.

Haumai Rog Arog Hoi Kari Sanjogu Vijog Khalaasee |

Getting cured of the ailment of ego, they are liberated from the bonds of comings and goings (birth and death).

Saadhsangati Guramati Saabaasee ||15 ||

Holy congregation is applauded because of the wisdom of the Guru that resides in it.

reminds me of what Sant Singh Maskeen ji said that kaam has to transform into naam before the danger passes of slipping headfirst into maya from falling from heights of naam . Naam/gurbani japna is strong enough to control and tame the shakti without all the mudras and yoga manipulations  as you pointed out by the pangti .. suljouna is to bring to order/tame  .

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
