Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh.

I've come across many videos on youtube, that its not a good thing to take stress. And well it does make sense even outside as well as inside Gurmat preaching, to not stress about anything. Stress comes and goes in life, and what's more important is to live in the present and jap naam, to purify yourself from the inside and live a life full of pure actions.

And if someone has ever seen videos of the channel Nanak Naam (on youtube), they do great parchaar of Gurmat, and I've even had them say (preach according to Gurmat) that there is no good and there is no bad. Also, dukh (sorrow) and happiness are just things made by mind. Good and bad is just labels that our mind puts on things/events in life. But in reality (according to Gurbani), seeing things as good and bad (happening to you) is what keeps us feeling separated from God, and basically it is all just hukam. If we look at life events as good or bad (in dukh or happiness), we are basically saying "Why is this happening to me?" and speaking against the hukam (will) of the Oneness.

And all that makes perfect sense (agree to it) when I listen to their parchaar and it is something quite extraordinary (though hard to wrap your mind around at first go). But my question is, What does one do when he has physical discomfort (or a disease not big enough to kill him, but keep him in stress always, hindering his very ability to focus on his day to day life chores). And even doctors and medicines can't do anything about it, and he prays, but his prayers (bentiyan) are not strong (or effective) enough. What do we do when all our tries go in vain?

And it's not like I don't trust what our Gurus said. Of course I do. But if honest bentiyan(requests in the form of prayers or the like) are just not working, what do we do then?

Do we just keep on trying/do the same? Or do we accept it as hukam and that the disease is never gonna leave my body? How do we know when our prayers would get fulfilled?

Please help, I'm kind of in the dark here. And I'm sorry if I said anything wrong. WJKK WJKF

Naam, Gurbani, water, nutrition, healthy activities like walking, and bhang.

A lot of stress and pain can be released through Naam. Letting go of the thoughts, and desires. A natural reaction to pain and discomfort is to say no or dislike the pain, but if you actively accept and send love, as a verb, over and over to the pain it will change. Pain is information so accept the communication and respond to it with love.

Confront and release the fear of death. Embrace Vaheguru's hukam, and look forward to rather than fear death.

Don't be afraid to add the healthy habits, and if you have to medicate as well as meditate , use bhang.

I have a health condition and what I do when I’m going through a bad phase is to ask God to help me to cope with what I go through, as I already know the health condition isn’t  going to go away, but seek help to self manage it.

Accept Hukam, that you can’t do what you can’t, but be proud of what you can, no matter how small it maybe. When you feel there is no change, you feel there isn’t anything that can help, but then you have to also not let go of hope.  That’s what keeps one going, and that is also graced by God. But whatever you do, don’t let go of God, because they are the one that will give you the strength and confidence.

Talk to others in the same situation, as it will help you to realise that you are not alone. It’s good to listen to others problems, and understanding of them will be better as you also have a health condition, so there maybe something you could input by helping them. This will reduce stress for you, as your mind will be occupied elsewhere and distract from the negative effects of the health condition. If you’re not up to doing that, then just carry on praising Waheguru, without asking for anything in return, and leave it to them.

It depends on the health condition you have. Do both, keep praising God and also accept Hukam. It is hard to accept, but there isn’t much else one can do, but also get professional help from the doctors/specialists of your health condition. They will guide you better and offer treatment or self management techniques.

Have you had any counselling in regards to your health condition? If not, ask for it.

Basic approach to health and wellness is to assist in achieving balance in body, mind, and spirit.

This is the Triad of Health: Structual, Chemical, and Emotional/Mental.

Structural Balance refers to the head, neck, and spinal column. Our central nervous system is protected by the head, neck, and spinal column. Any imbalance in this area can distort or ruin the communication between the brain and the body. This begins with a constant pressure on the nerve pathways due to structural misalignment. Then problems begin and organs can fail or become diseased. If the organ is not functioning right, then a muscle group may weaken and stop functioning.

Chemical Balance is about the nutritional interactions in the body. An imbalance in this area inhibits healing and may create chronic (reoccurring) health problems. If messages from the brain do not reach the muscles or organs due to a chemical imbalance in the body, they will become weak and lead to further structural imbalance. This is a terribly vicious cycle.

Emotional/Mental Balance. We are emotional beings and emotions affect our health. This is an extremely complex area. By correcting the structural and chemical balances, the emotional balance is affected in a positive way. Healing results occur from improving and correcting the brain-body communication through structural and chemical balancing.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
