What did the Sikh Gurus do for a living or for money? Did they live like kings and have people serve them, or did they work like common folks for food, money, shelter, etc.?

1. First of all, a question for you: Are you a amritdhari Sikh, believing Sikh, patit Sikh, or a non-Sikh? If so, Christian, Hindu, or Muslim?

2. Second, here's your answer:

God automatically does the work of those who love the Name of the Lord.

By Guru's Grace, he ever dwells in their minds, and He resolves all their affairs.

Im pretty sure Guru Nanak Dev Ji worked to show people without working you can't get anything. Not sure about other gurus. Guru Nanak Dev ji didnt need to work but still he did work.

They followed all forms of lifestyle.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji did Farm-work and worked in a shop, Bhai Lehna Ji (prior to becoming the second Nanak) used to lead processions to Naina Devi but afterwards he started running schools essentially. Guru Hargobind Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji were kings alright but they gave generously. The Langar was always running, prizes for physical sports and even paids for weapons for their sikhs and so on.

So basically The Guru in his various forms lived the ideal path in each of the lifestyles adopted.
