If petitions did anything they would be 'banned'. Go ahead create a #, do some social media groups, share with friends etc..it won't do anything. Civil disobedience is the only thing that gets policy to change, hence why the authorities pander to certain communities that are known to kick off if they don't get what they want. If the Sikh community refused to pay it's tax until something was done, watch how quick juggi would be back in the UK . But our visible leaders with their MBE, obe's etc would rather suck up that rock the boat. Also realise that India has a lot of money invested in the UK (Tata etc, who own companies like Jag land rover and Tate and Lyle) so government won't rock the boat unless pushed to do so.

I don't doubt you are right. The signature only takes 30 seconds though.  Then maybe we can continue talks on how to address issues like this.

Writing politicians? In the uk they have local mps?

Submitting for mainstream media coverage?

Economic boycotts?

Peaceful public protest?

Blanket refusal to re elect any standing mp that doesn't do something?

Roll up with the jathas?

I believe there is a sikh legal nonprofit of lawyers? Maybe they could help.

Very true brother. I normally don't sign petitions or go to the '84 march, personally feel that it's a waste of time. I just thought I'd post it here because this one is actually pretty close to the target and on the off chance it might make a difference.

Sikh Youth UK are urging people to send letters to Jaggi which while being very thoughtful, isn't particularly well advised.

this is how amnesty puts pressure on prisons holding political prisoners , it has affect ... we need to do it all as a kaum , get the names and send the letters every week, soon the wardens will be bitching to GOI . The letters are addressed to the individual prisoners and written to them ..

Who knows if the letters even reach the prisoner.

that's not the point: sackloads of letters create work and hassle for the postal system, the censors, the prison staffon a daily and weekly basis , it's kind of spamming in the real world for a good reason . A lot of Prisoners will get told through the prison grapevine that so many letters are arriving for them, it helps give them honsla that they are not forgotten ...all for the price of a stamp .
