AUCKLAND – A young Sikh man in his early twenties has died after being hit by the rubbish truck in Tuakau, Waikato.

Kamal Singh was a rubbish collection worker, and as per initial reports by the police he fell off the truck and died after being run over by it.

The accident took place on Alexandra Redoubt Road shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14. Kamal’s family has been notified of the incident.

Kamal’s friend, Daljit Singh, said Kamal had moved to New Zealand from the Mansa district in Punjab and was living here on a work visa.
