The Sikh population is approximately 420,000 in the UK (2011 Census). Of those, approximately 120,000 live in London. 

I'm surprised that Birmingham has only 32,000. This will be greater than Leeds and Manchester, which have far fewer Sikhs than Birmingham. It makes you wonder, where are all the other 270,000 Sikhs then? There cant be more Sikhs in Wolverhampton, Gravesend and Leicester (50k each) than in Birmingham?

I suspect people in the West Midlands area say that they live in Birmingham because a lot of people may never heard of their town.

The census does not count the illegals though.

They would have heard of their towns, but it’s probably easier to say Barmingam de lage. There’s quite a a few in Best Brom, Balsall, Bulbulhemton, Billenhall, Bensfield. 

And then there’s the students ?

bro that figure is only for england , you need northern ireland wales and scotland figures too to get the true picture

Regardless, Wales, Scotland, NI are negligible compared to Birmingham. Every town/city is apart from London.

Them getting paid by Saudis doesnt have anything to do with this, in face it'd even benefit them to mislead the public and show lower Muslim numbers. India and Pakistan census divisions are a joke, totally different. They don't have Sikh selection because Sikh population in those countries are non existent almost, or just now growing. Your theory has absolutely no basis lol. There is no conspiracy to control Sikhs by rigging their census numbers.

The reality is the figure is probably more or less correct. I reckon it is slightly higher maybe towards the 500k mark.

It feels more because we punch well above our weight.
