You answered your own question... What you sow, so you shall reap. If your family had nothing to do with you committing that sin then you shall have to face the consequences. If your family have done something wrong then they will have to face the consequences.

Mostly, it will be you that pays for your Karam because Maharaj also says "Karamee aapo aapne, kaaey nerdhe kaaey ddhoor". But if you do ardaas that you are deeply sorry and that you want to be forgiven then Maharaj will forgive you but that Karam that you've created by committing that sin has to go somewhere and that is where it may go to a family member. Passing to a family member will usually happen if you do ardaas in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji with family. Then you may all get a small bit of Karam to go through each. For example, if you have a massive rash and you do ardaas in front of Maharaj, your family might all get a spot each and your rash goes away. This is what I've learnt Ji. Hope this helps Ji.

Vaheguru Ji.

Here is a shabad that I found~

ਆਪਣ ਹਥੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕਾਜੁ ਸਵਾਰੀਐ ॥੨੦॥

aapan hathee aapanaa aapae hee kaaj savaareeai |20|

With our own hands, let us resolve our own affairs. ||20||

As per Gurbani only Guru & Kartaar are infallible.

It's best to do more good than bad.

If you did something wrong and seek redemption then start doing good deeds & wipe effects of bad karma.

Yeh, its better to not make mistakes but as humans it happens. We should just ask for forgiveness. Do as much gurbani as you can.

No, we reap what we sow. We don't reap what someone else sows.

Yes, it is absolutely correct what Guru Jee tell us in the Bani : apey beejeh apye hi khahe .

One reaps and eats what oneself has sown.

This is not like one person prepares food at home, and then all members of the family eat the same food served.

And this not only within family members, but as well with all our intearcations with whosoever we come in contact.

No relation, no intercation is possible without past karma, the moment our karmic relation/settlement/account finishes, to some we leave before, or others leave us.

People break their heads and get into depressions, go mad also, and ask why this, or why  that to me?

But the fact is, without our own past karam, nothing happens in our favor, nor against us. Nobody is to be ever blamed.

And the karmic theory is so deep and complicated, that our reason or logic fails to understand it, but still, it is perfect to the second.

As we can not discernate, if we are incurring in a new karam, or bearing consequences of a past one, it is better to always avoid bad karam, or hurt anybody in any way, under anger, pride, jealousy, wickedness, selfishness, or be it any other reasons, whether conscioussly or unconcioussly.
