I don't feel like we're doing enough for Jaggi. Petitioning and protesting isn't getting us anywhere. The protest in London could hardly be called a protest for a start. 400 people turn up. 1-2 cops. What sort of a protest is that when the police just let you get on with it, don't even bother showing up. Lol it's a joke. They know we're too complaisant. Everyone's contacting their MPs, only a handful have made any sort of statement...  3? 5 max? They just don't give a monkeys. Britain's relationship with india is way too important. Now more than ever post brexit. They won't do shtt to jeopardise it. It's all about trade deals. It was in 84, it still is now. We need to wake the F up.

So my question is, what can we do?! We need to up the ante. "Apan hathi apna, apay he kaaj savariye". With our own hands let us resolve our own affairs. Waheguruji nothing is being done. Our brothers rights are nonexistent. Heck the British high commission representives failed to show up to the second hearing. No one's batting an eyelid in the gov. I'm fed up with petitions. I'm fed up with begging. I'm fed up with "protests"/ gatherings. Back in the day we courted arrests. Everyone knew something was going down. It showed we meant business and were willing to put everything on the line to get what we wanted. What happened to our anakh? Our sovereign mentality?! Such a sad state of affairs. I'm done begging. I'm doing complying. Enough is enough. Hadn't got us anywhere. And if you're scared of media reports IDGAF. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Would you sit back and write a letter to your MP if your brother mother sister was in jaggis shoes? No. So wake up.

Pul chuk muaf ji.

I am very proud of you veerji. You are being very righteous and compassionate to someone who is less fortunate. What do you plan to do next? If we do it together then it will be more powerful. You are right, the Sikh community especially in the UK is just sitting back and waiting for things to happen. We actually need to get up and do something. This task should be our seva:

ਸਭ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀਆ ॥੩॥
सभ दुनीआ आवण जाणीआ ॥३॥
Sabẖ ḏunī▫ā āvaṇ jāṇī▫ā. ||3||
All the world continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||3||

ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਈਐ
विचि दुनीआ सेव कमाईऐ ॥
vicẖ ḏunī▫ā sev kamā▫ī▫ai.
In the midst of this world, do seva,

ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਪਾਈਐ
ता दरगह बैसणु पाईऐ ॥
Ŧā ḏargėh baisaṇ pā▫ī▫ai.
and you shall be given a place of honor in the Court of the Lord.         Ang 26

I'm honestly surprised by the lack of concern on this forum about Jaggi. Maybe it's because he doesn't wear a turban and trims his beard?

While I like your spirit, I don't think threat and violence will get us anywhere and I don't think we've exhausted all avenues of protest. I've written to my MP. I live in a place where there aren't many Sikhs and my email is the only one of two my MP has got on the subject. I'm meeting him tomorrow to get him to ask Boris Johnson to #FreeJaggiNow.

Seriously impressed by the organisation that has gone into this campaign - pre-drafted letters, hashtags etc. It's protesting with one voice rather than acting like a unorganised mob. If we keep acting in a peaceful organised way, hopefully people will finally recognise us as a community rather than 'nutters with towels on their heads brandishing swords' as in one media portrayal.

Don't think so.

This website is not accessed much relative to number of Sikhs in the UK; this is true of Sikh forums online in general

The Singh/Singhnis in prison for the General Brar incident and the Leicester guys-not any more online or otherwise support for them that I've seen compared to this case

Brushed under the carpet. Out of sight out of mind. Pity.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
