Vjkk vjkf,

If anyone can give some advice I'd appreciate it. Im having an issue where my mustache/dhari is growing/grown alot more on right hand side of face so it looks a bit odd. Im in mid 20's so dont think it is about waiting for it to grow out. I sometimes get thoughts of trimming etc which i really dont want to do so If anyone can give some tips please?

You need proper hydration and good balanced diet consisting of omega oils and vitamins.

Use oil on your beard everyday....specifically ones that contain almond oil, jojoba oil, rosemary oil and cedar wood oil. These will stimulate growth and strengthen hair. If there is a fungal infection reason why it's not growing then you will need to use antifungal shampoos + conditioners.

You must not cut it! Whether you are a boy or a girl it cannot be done! Just remember the Shaheed Singhs who'd much rather give their life than cut it. It doesn't matter how you look but follow what the Guru says and don't fall into the trap of being manmat. (I am not saying you are manmat.) I understand that it is harder for girls but it is also hard for boys aswell. We need to forget about other people but we need to think about what the Guru thinks of our actions.

know any remedies for an itchy beard penji? mine itches like crazy and thats not really safe in the lab.

  1. Medium growth: Medium growth starts by the age of 19-21. One can observe a steady growth in the length of the beard and reduction of the patches. This is also the phase when the beard starts losing moisture and makes the facial scalp itchy and scratchy.

         Beard Care:

  • The beard starts losing moisture post bath. So the ideal time to apply a beard oil as soon as you step out of your bath.
  • While applying the beard oil start by massaging the facial scalp and then the beard. This helps to spread the oil across the facial scalp and reduces itching.
  • If one wants to set their beard they can apply a small quality of a good beard gel, beard balm or spray. Make sure that the styling gel/spray/balm is applied only after the beard oil has been applied. The beard oil being natural will protect the facial pores from harmful chemicals.
  • At the end of day, wash your beard with a lukewarm water and beard wash. The beard wash will help to wash the dirt, sweat and chemical acquired from the styling gels and sprays as well as condition the beard.

Get a good beard shampoo bro. Don't ever use shampoo made for your head, too harsh. Personally I use one made by By My Beard which I randomly spotted in a chemist. It's a bargain and doesn't irritate my face. You can use oil if you wish but it doesn't always do the trick - it depends on your skin. After washing, pat dry your beard and try using 'Simple Rich Replenshing Moisturiser' in place of the oil, it's definitely rich and has an ever so slightly greasy feel to it but not enough to annoy you or for it to appear greasy.

Try the above, it's worked brilliantly for me.

^^ They have a good selection of products but I haven't tried any of the others.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
