Sikh Marriage Proposal NYC Times Square

Recommended Posts

They are both flattered, I'm sure.

They didn't need to make it a public event and if they really had to then it should be a Punjabi proposal and not a 'sikh' proposal.

you're funny ... what do you think guru ji taught us conspicious consumption, extravagance and haumai nu patte paune or focus on the actual gurbani, vichar on the meaning and strive to live accordingly ? I did spend money on my wedding but it was my kirt di kamai not my parents' , we had langar before and after the two marriages (both done under Guru ji's roof) prayers of both faiths were done in Guru ji's hazoori, and bidaai was from Gurughar...

I'm sure my kids will be planning theirs , there's nothing wrong in it but I will advise them to not waste money on show but maybe put it towards helping others

I am not surprised by who posted this, but the content was not necessary.

Also, the title should have said 'Indian' or 'Delhiite punjabi' or 'punjabi'

During the Anand Karaj there are 50 people and at the reception there are 200 people.

In the olden days only 5 men from the grooms side.

not when my grandparents married then it was like a whole village attending and the girl's family had to feed and look after them for days , my parent's time family gathering still huge but only for a day max ,when my younger mama got married in Punjab during 80s then the bharat party only max 11 and everyone was stressed out if they would come back safe . Now big guest list but hardly anyone goes to the gurdwara for the wedding , my brother was married in Punjab in 2000 and it was literally him , the immediate family and some of my sakhe mamey , thaia ji thaiee ji and his kids  my Nani bus rest were more interested in chugli , drinking and eating then dancing

Bhein ji with four kids to marry you should be spending less time chatting & more on overtime.

Having an Anand Karaj at Gurdwara too can be costly why not have the ceremony at home, be frugal 😆

that's what the family tradition was ...akhand paat sewa by whole family , bheta to dharamshala of pind. Shaheedan Singh de naam te sewa (langar te nave bastar) of panj Gursikh . Family would do matha tek and ardas, bhog at dharamshala before going on janjh or in case of bibi before arrival of janjh. Full sewa was taken by family members ...

In mine we did langar sewa as a couple before and after e.g.  making ladoo for sangat from scratch in gurdwara and all dishes, washing trays etc.

it's about love for Guru Panth ji just as much as Guru Granthji

    • the attitude is across the board in those quarters : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5371263/Somalian-raped-girl-threatened-kill-jailed.html#ixzz56cLk0KzQ
    • may need to go in , hold up don't agree with putting shastar on feet :
    • Let me try to deconstruct whats happening, again its nothing but self inflicted wound which could have been avoided, its about time sikh mp who invited him took the blame- which he did wholeheartedly instead of passing the buck. Yeah No, he is equally responsible along with rcmp and csis  for canadian gov't mockery infront of canadian and indian media and international stage and sabotaging new relationship with india which other five sikhs mps and prime minister tried so hard to change the narrative. 1. This individual - atwal is been in photo-ops with other liberal mps too in the past, he has been lurking around. He was sikh convicted attempted murder that should have been raised many eye brows within liberal caucas and sikhs liberal. Sikhs and others within liberal party have no problem hanging around this guy due to money/lobbying this create a loose end an loophole for GOI to exploit who issued visa few months ago and india media to exploit which they did very very successfully. Our incompetent CSIS and RCMP who couldn't weed this guy out. I don't know what CSIS and RCMP do all day instead of being incompetent can't find GOI influence issuing visa, screwing up billion dollar trade deal with india and start a new chapter. 2. This changes everything in terms of public opinion, fair trade deal with india as this incident is optics nightmare, now india has upper hand, deal will be on their terms- which means bad deal, more witch haunt on sikhs by media-conservatives will be pounding liberals and warm relationship will be issue in the election. Thanks to our sikh mp-randeep sarai, other liberal mps, incompetent csis, rcmp. 3. Off course, politicians attending parade and gurdwara where talvinder parmar poster- another sikh terrorist/mass murderer (declared by canadian supreme court judge-who in the same breath acquitted bagri and malik)/goi agent (as shown in soft target) is bought up  as it should, its about time record is set straight by liberal party including sikhs mps with one position they do condemn the poster of parmar, this means few things in future- gov't may cut funding/subsidies to gurdwara who has poster of parmar and also no gov't offical will be going to parade where his poster is displayed. Good on them, its about time someone stood up against whole sikh image gets hijacked by some arbitrary questionable person poster and by his tribal followers, they definitely don't speak for me, world sikh organization of canada nor sikh liberal mps-liberal party of canada, canadian gov't.. Off course everyone has a right to freedom of expression. But if you are expecting gov't funding or expecting sikh liberal mps to come to you  you can no longer complain if things are not met due to your position on parmar poster. 4. It be interesting how things unfold in vaishakhi parade, i like to see harjit sajjan - respected by all sikhs, wider Canadians to be fore front as liason mp between canadian gov't and sikh gurdwaras committee members to think outside of box and see bigger picture.

Well.....it's official now. If ever there was any doubt after the suicidal Brext vote...it's all out in the open now: We, without a shadow of a doubt, live in the single most uneducated, illiterate, hillbilly redneck nation on earth : the United Kingdom. KFC ran out of chicken. There has been panic throughout the land. The Police have had to issue statements begging people not to ring 911 (999) because they had no control over chicken deliveries, MPs have raised the matter in the mother of all Parliaments, it replaced the deaths in Syria has the main news headline,  NBC, CBS and ABC all flew their top reporters to London to cover the news, this lady in the news video below "had to go to Burger King" instead and , inexplicably, for reasons I still can't seem to understand, the man before her segment in the news video was upset because "KFC had run out of milk". Welcome....to the United Kingdom !!   You see.....when they say debate about 'to eat meat' or 'not to eat meat' is silly and futile...this is what they meant. All the pesticide and chemicals in mass consumed meat means the meat eaters are going to make themselves extinct through stupidity anyway. There's no point having discussions and arguments about the pros and cons.       BTW.....Have they found Roop yet ? Where's Roop ?
