I'd feel the same way if I had a daughter who wanted to abandon her identity and settle for less, i.e. a black thug. She sounds disgusting. Your kind can never be a Sikh in my eyes. Your kind either walk around with a chip on the shoulder or act like you own the streets. You also rob our temples at night too - there have been many cases in the uk/us.

You also clearly lack knowledge and respect for 5 K's. Wearing a Kirpan alone doesn't suddenly make you a Sikh and neither does the surname 'Singh', as some have incorrectly said, you fool.

Our community will always see you as an weird outsider trying to copy our identity. Do you not have your own culture?

I honestly have no idea who wrote this, but to anyone who believes in stuff like this, they should know only Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Vaheguru have ever existed in perfection.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Hi guys I was hoping you guys could help with some info and advice. It all started 3 years ago when was going through some tough times when I was introduced to meditation by my best friend now my fiancé. As meditating was helping me I grew curious about Sikhi and its teachings. She taught me as much as she could and I found my own path in Sikhi. I attend the Gurdwara regularly try to keep the 5 Ks minus the Kerpan as I have not taken Amrit as yet as I know there is still a lot for me to learn. I Also follow the teachings of the Guru Gran Sahib Ji.

As we were really good friends it was different when we fell in love with each other. Call it old fashioned or not the correct way with the Asian culture but it happened. When she told her dad he refused to talk to her or myself and still does up to this day! As far as I am aware the teachings of Guru Nanak cleary talks about equality and diversity. I won't go into detail as you know the rest. However her dad is not just any Sikh is a freedom fight Sikh so he should know better. How do we address this as she misses her father very much and we really want him at the Anand Karaj. Also another issue the Gurdwara I've asked to do the ceremony has not refused but told us all the committee members have to be in agreement with it before we can get married. I asked them in July and it is now October and the still can't give me an answer apart from I need to attend their Gurdwara more regularly especially on Sundays which I have. I feel like I have an uphill battle with everything because if you were born a Sikh never really attend Gurdwara decide to get married as that person will have Singh or Kaur in their name it won't be a problem. I also will have Singh in my name. How do I approach her or how do we approach the situation?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!

Guest you first need to know that Sikhs call their teacher Guru Granth Sahib ji.

The word Granth means sacred scripture.

Frankly you need to impress girl's father with your religious knowledge, courage & conviction.

Normally race, religion, caste are taken into consideration while fixing a match but class (money) usually over shadows these pre-requisites.

In regards to Anand Karaj ceremony you should probably seek guidance from

https://www.sikhdharma.org

They support inter-racial marriage.

Hey guys thanks for your kind support. I really appreciate your thoughts and support. especially the guest who mentioned that he wouldn't let me marry his daughter. I've already found my Jaan thank you. also on a side note its people like him will never understand the true meaning of Sikhi. I pray that Waheguru bless you and your family and I hope the rest of your family doesn't turn out like you.

On a better note I am learning as I go along and I will keep practicing Sikhi. Being a human being is all I do. I feel very disheartened when I go to the Gurdwara with curiosity and wanting to be involved within the community. Unfortunately I feel I am seen as 'different' which yes I am black but all I want is to be apart of this beautiful faith. I want to raise our children in the Gurudwara (when we have kids) I hope they do not experience any of these things.  In regards to her dad I went to the Gurdwara to ask for her hand in marriage, he shut me down on the spot. I know this is a massive issue but I would have thought after some time he would of given it some thought and address the issue. Instead no one is allowed to communicate with us up to this day!

You are a racist piece of <banned word filter activated>.

I call it as I see it, unlike you. It's called 'Sat' (truth) and it's a key teaching in Sikhi. I don't think you practice it in life otherwise you would have told me why what I wrote is wrong.

Did your mother drop you on your head purposely.  I think she should have dropped you harder and maybe the right wires would connected.  Dirty little hindu drinking cow urine.

Your first words in this thread was 'your black' and then you come out with this? What suddenly changed your mind? Again, tell me why you disagree with my comments rather than just calling me a hindu. Accusations like that just make you look even more silly, in my opinion.

I've agreed with a few of your posts in the past but after recently reading some of them, I'm beginning to think your brain might be appearing to show symptoms of a bang on the head. Davai pio.

Both of you sound like liberals. Wake up, open your eyes and see them for what many of them are like in reality.

LOL douche

Judging by how you write your posts, I'm starting to believe that you are affiliated with 3ho and not from the Panjab, as you have claimed.

Personal observations:

  1. Very defensive when they are mentioned
  2. Liberal thinking on any topic raised, especially non-Panjabi & Sikh related e.g. this one
  3. Excessive use of americanisms
  4. No understanding or knowledge on Panjabi issues
  5. Unable to read Gurmukhi

I spoke to someone in the uk recently who heads a group that teaches Gurmukhi. He told me that 3ho are only just starting to learn it and practice 'yogi' bhajan's teachings less often. He also said they are starting to lose their pot bellies and smoke less but I don't know if this weird cult still dance to Gurbani, worship hindu gods and conduct gay marriages etc. Probably not as they wouldn't then make any profit. White freaks. I hope they burn in hell.

There are some people who will NEVER EVER accept you. There is nothing you can ever accomplish to be accepted by them.

Now that we have gotten that through and out of the way, try focusing on following Guru Sahib, because Sikhi isn't about equality, meditation, or anything in-between it's about following Guru Sahib, and everyone is on a scale of this journey, some are higher and some are lower in this scale of following Guru Sahib.

If your talking about Gurdwara openness, it's mostly relatives and friends socializing with each other, so you'd probably not want to be heavily invested in their conversations anyway.

was going to mention this couple also in my life experience there have been really chardikala afro-caribeeaan gursikhs before since the 1980s , they too wanted to be married to gursikh bibian but not many indian gursikhs were confident enough to volunteer their daughters , same is true of white male gursikhs . I think it's just baggage from indian patriarchal ideas that the faith of the father would dictate the faith of the kids not from sikhi as that is all about the conduct and development of true character not skin colour(literally indians can be any shade from white like europeans to bluish-black)  . I had similar views put to me  because I was marrying a european descent Brasilian but we have kept sikhi as central to our lives  and our kids are sikhs as well .

Keep on keeping on with developing your sikhi and she hers maybe you will be blessed with amrit and anand karaj , just leave it in Guru ji's hands.

I wouldn't want to marry Yogi Bhajan's disciples either, nor would I want those precious to me associated with 3HO. Also if you've noticed these 3HO people, they have extremely white supremacist anti-Punjabi Sikh sentiments.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
