Stole? Its human nature. Throughout history people have been conquering and/or wiping out other people to take their lands. Most of the time, it wasn't by pretty means. Natives weren't able to hold their land and lost, simple. Are we supposed to return every bit of land to the very original inhabitants?

The intentions of the british invasion and occupation were not as simple as you suggest. It was for exploitation of the entire world, not survival. That is the difference. They oppressed native populations before taking land without consent and through aggressive force. Are you saying that is not theft?

steal

verb: steal; 3rd person present: steals; past tense: stole; gerund or present participle: stealing; past participle: stolen

1.take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it.

"thieves stole her bicycle"

synonyms:purloin, thieve, take, take for oneself, help oneself to, loot, pilfer, abscond with, run off with, appropriate, abstract, carry off, shoplift;

They had, in my eyes, these key advantages:

  • various strategies (formations) from previous wars and battles
  • advanced weapons i.e. guns for quicker and easier genocide
  • democratic law and courts that were purposely biased for exploitation
  • an evil mindset able to lie, deceive and attack
  • no fear of God

The natives welcomed them, despite given false promises, before eventually losing their fight through famine and disease, which were brought over by the goreh due to poor hygiene (monthly/annual bathing). Not even the natural plants and herbs they used to treat infections and illnesses could save them from this cross-contamination.

I suggest you watch 'Trail of Tears' to gain a clear and better understanding of these events in the mid-19th century, not hundreds and hundreds of years ago.

Why not combine these two ideas with the idea of open days. Have a stall in the high street and approach non-Sikhs by inviting them to the local Gurdwara open day. The British are interested in knowing about non-Abrahamic religion as they have rejected the old angry guy in the sky type of religious belief. Islam is no different and the only Brits who convert to that religion are prisoners or women because their Muslim husband demands that they do.

Hopefully we can do this. But not sure how we can get it done as our leaders are not exactly for the idea. They believe every religion is right.S what is the need to try and convert others. Even though that is what our guru did. Guru Nanak yet we cannot do it.

Canada is what it is today because of white Europeans. It is an English and French-speaking country

Like the us, uk and australia, it is a 'melting pot' of immigrants from across the world. Those people worked hard to build a better life for themselves and their efforts strengthened the economy to what it is today. Why ignore their contribution? Both the country and economy would be different without them. Don't just praise the goreh.

At least the British let us wear turbans in schools, work places etc. The French are mega racist. By the way we should not give a White people so much attention because they love it.

Hanji, they do love attention so this my last post on them here.

The right to wear a turban came only after our previous generations fought hard for it, otherwise it would have remained prohibited in public.

Yes, the french are racist but so are the british. Their skin colour and pride from colonial rule will always feed their ego, sense of entitlement and supremacy as well as intolerance. We're here out of guilt and I'm certain they regret welcoming us with open arms.

As they like to say, you reap what you sow.

Right now britian is in utter turmoil. It is greatly divided by race and religion. White people hate muslims and vice versa.

But there is a great opportunity on the horizen for Sikhs to spread our faith in the UK through moral methods. At the moment Sikhs generally have a good image. We are seen as peacefull and respectfull people not like many muslims who are considered scum by many whites.

The key question is how do we do it? We should have a tons more followers then we do at the moment as Sikhism is a very attractive and intellectual faith. There are no absurdities in there like many other faiths have. I was thinking one idea is to do door to door knocking similar to jehovas wittnesses.

This will kill two birds with one stone. We can educate people that we are not Muslims aswell as telling them about our faith at the same time. Areas to do this need to be chosen with research and know how of the ethnic make up of the locations. This needs to be done by well spoken and learned Sikhs. They need to have the gift of the gab. Its a bit like a sales men . you have to be good at tallking and selling. but you wont be selling anything. Just educating people about our beliefs.

Do non Sikhs feel more welcome at a mosque then a gurdwara. Many eat langar then just leave. Why dont we make the effort to have a chat with them next time we see one in the Gurdwara.

Lets look at the muslim tactics. They go for weak and vulnerable people who are easily swayed by some sweet words.

Why dont we have events were non muslims can come and have info on Sikhi. Ie at the gurdwara. Or is the gurdara just a place were old aunties can give everyone dirty looks at gossip?

You want this to be the next land where Sikhs are a  minority to Pakistani Muslims ? I mean, we already are, but the number of Muslims is getting very big, and is likely to lead to even more issues

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
