Don't sikhs wear socks and shoes and sit in chairs?

Can someone answer these questions if they don't mind?

Why are they sitting on floor instead of sitting in chairs with their heads covered?

this talk was just after evening langar, it was more practical to sit where sangat was. nothing planned about it other than practical

amazing , ALL you got from this video was the idea to criticise dress and surroundings ...get a life

Admin, why did you delete the rest of the post? The two questions that remain make the post look like a reasonable, well-intentioned query. Who knows what the deleted portion looked like, but if it was anything like I could guess, was it calling Sikhs uncivilized for not sitting on chairs?

Anyway, to "Chaudry" Sahib: You're not some ignorant "gora", as you used the word "Chaudry", so regardless of whether you are Muslim or  Hindu, you should know that Sikhs sit on the floor in their Gurdwaras, just like Hindus in their Mandirs, and Muslims in their Maseets. So why are you acting like it's such a surprise that Sikhs sit on the floor. A Gurdwara is not a Lions lodge, nor is it an auditorium.

Even if "Chaudry Sahib" didn't go to the talk, it's completely obvious that this is so. Just look at the sangat sitting on the langar mats. They're not sitting on the whole floor, they're just sitting on the long (lengthwise) langar mats. 

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

Why are you all getting into his business? He was asking an earnest question, as to whether these Sikhras don't own any socks.

He was a poor exporter looking to make a fortune selling each Sikh in the world two pairs of socks.

Yes we do sit on chairs and wear socks, but we do also remove them and sit on the floor, if we want so.

Have you ever been into a Gurdwara? How do you find us there?  is it not similar to the video in your post?

Then?  What is your problem?

Out of respect and tradition, when someone is doing parchar or keertan, we do sit in front of them on the floor and remove our socks.

Chaudray jee, if you respect yourself, just respect our traditions.

It is obvious, you have not paid attention to a single word in your video posted, rather looking at the surroundings. It is like a student going to class in school, pays not attention to what the teacher says, but looks around the ceilings, the floor and the walls.

This attitude, will surely make him remain a dumb donkey!

    • It's one thing to cluster in a given area to have enough people to make congregation able to support a temple, church, etc. But what we're talking about is the aggressive tactics used to rid an area of non-Muslims. The percentage of Chinese in Chinatowns is very high. But non-Chinese people are not usually afraid of visiting Chinatown. They are not no-go areas where they bully, ban, and kill non-Chinese people, in the way that a Swedish reporter who was working to de-mystify no-go zones was shot ... in a no-go zone, thereby proving the point.
    • Yeah, I think that's true. Maybe that wouldn't be a problem if the elites were ever actually right about anything. It's the elites that decided they wanted to start subsidizing illegitimacy by paying money to women who have children outside of wedlock. If they have a husband who is earning, that counts against their welfare benefits. Surprise, surprise, you get women mating with multiple men not their husbands. It's the elites that decided to start the war against Iraq, a country that never invaded or even threatened the US. It's the elites that decided they want to teach children in 3rd grade in a way that encourages them to want to engage in extra-marital sex. And it's the elites that decided to import millions of fake Syrian refugees without even a vote (most don't even claim to be from that country, most of the ones who claim to be aren't). And so on.
    • Yes, good point. I think this is the reason Guru Sahib granted us the Rehit. The Rehit keeps us tough. We're meant to engage in sword-play and ride horses, and the rest of the Nihang lifestyle. But we've become weak. Sikhs ask, "Why do we have to have a kirpan if there's no war on. And if there's a criminal, we can just call 911, 100, or 999 on our iPhone?" It's people like that which lead to ridiculous stuff like Sweden giving housing benefits to returning Jihadis instead of throwing them in the slammer.
    • Well, I find it quite interesting that you have people (including Sant Dhadrianwale's retinue and possibly including NKJ) who support Dhadrianwale for years. Presumably they support the stuff that Sant Dhadrianwale preached at that time, like Naam Simran. Now, suddenly, he turns around and basically says Naam Simran is manmat. And his followers don't abandon him, they cling even tighter to him. So they can't claim to be supporters of a philosophy (Gurmat). Rather, they were and are supporters of a man. When the man flips, they flip too: ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਛਡਿ ਕੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ। Manmukh, the mind-orientated, leaving away the true Guru Lord becomes slave of man. ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਲਾਮੁ ਕਰੰਦਾ। Becoming errand boy of man he goes daily to salute him. ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਥ ਜੋੜਿ ਕੈ ਹੋਇ ਹਜੂਰੀ ਖੜਾ ਰਹੰਦਾ। All the twenty four hours (eight pahars) with folded hands he stands before his master. ਨੀਦ ਨ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਸੁਖ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੂਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਰਹੈ ਡਰੰਦਾ। Sleep, hunger and pleasure he does not have and remains so scared as if he has been sacrificed. ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਲਾ ਧੁਪ ਛਾਉ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੈ ਝਲਿ ਦੁਖ ਸਹੰਦਾ। Throughout rains, cold, sunlight, shade, he undergoes myriad sufferings. ਆਤਸ ਬਾਜੀ ਸਾਰੁ ਵੇਖਿ ਰਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਘਾਇਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਰੰਦਾ। In the battlefield (of life) this same person, considering sparks of iron as fireworks gets mortally wounded. ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਜੂਨਿ ਭਵੰਦਾ ॥੪॥ Without the (shelter of) perfect Guru, he wanders through the species. ਵਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ : ਵਾਰ ੧੫ ਪਉੜੀ ੪  Bhai Gurdas Varaan 15:4
