Over complicating Sikhi

Are some people over complicating the Sikh faith. 

We have people over analyzing the faith to follow exact rules and regulations. People who do this are just confusing themselves through going into minute details. Then they start critising others for not following their 'ideals' of the faith.

Sikhism is a beautiful religion that is simple to follow. Theres no thousands of customs, rituals and traditions that we are meant to follow. 

We belive in key concepts. Such as believing in one God. Living a good honest decent life. Helping others and fighting for the equal rights of all.

Trying to follow minute details will not make you a better Sikh. All you need to do is follow the key beliefs and everything will fall into place. Yet many try to hard and forget the basics. 

Is this an becoming an increasing issue in todays society of perfectionist Sikhs who are trying to hard.

Sikhi is a very simple and easy faith to follow if not taken rigidly and literally. Also when Sikhs start getting involved in useless rituals then we know they are going away from Sikhi and into the realms of what Guru Nanak Ji preached against in gurbani.

These days alot of Hindunised Sikhs who think they are part of sanatha dharma because of brainwashing from Hindutva groups. They should ask themselves what was the reason for Waheguru in creating Sikhi if Hinduism was fine as it was? Obviously there was a problem to begin with for our Hindu ancestors to break away from mainstream hindu movements and into a new spiritual path called Sikhi.

I 100% agree! Sikhs act like they try to prove something. It should be Sangat, Simran and Seva all 7 days. Yet we pop up with "You need to do this, you need to do that, you can't do this, can't do that." If you look at Sikhi it appears there are far too many things you can't do than can do. Hence many people deter away from Sikhi???

Absolutely. The key question is what can be done to curb this trend for the betterment of the faith?

I think you have something in your mind but you are not being open fearing that it will cause another never ending debate. I might be wrong but I think we do have to keep a minimum rehat in order to call ourself Sikhs.

Sikhi does look simple but it is not simple to follow thru. As Gurbani says that our path is like walking on a sharp edge sword which is thinner than our hair to walk on. Our gurus laid down very simple Marg but we choose not to follow that way. Here is another topic read today and can relate that with this one.
