Well yes I do believe that dating can be explosive. How long can the whole friendship stage really last ?  And in most cases the child should trust their parents when it comes to marriage.  Im not saying they should be forced into an arranged marriage but a child should be willing to appreciate that the parents would never wish to make them  unhappy. There have been times in my own life when i have had to trust my family even if I felt differently about a situation. I just think your family really are your backbone. If you lose them and their respect, who else do you have?

But yeah maybe we have jumped ro conclusions about what this girl and boy are upto. But in all fairness, its like i said how long can the whole friendship stage last until things get serious and potentially dangerous ?

I agree our parents are our guides and backbone but there will come a time when they are not here....then what would that child do? We should take their teachings yes but ultimately look for guidance from Sikhi. Sometimes parents can be miss guided themselves then whose job is it to put them back into right path? Just food for though.

Also in this girls case it's a bit of a taboo subject about the whole dating thing, if she was Recommended a boy by her parents and then allowed to talk to him to see if things work out....would that not also be classed as dating? If that's the case then With or without parental supervision it's still morally unacceptable? Granted if they like each other and things start to get serious outside realms of friendship then yeh that's not respectful, however if both boy and girl acted admirably and had restraint before it turned into serious relationship and they wanted to marry one another before it got serious then surely they should get married regardless of what background each are from? So long as they both know the consequences.

Well we dont really know what this girl means when she says they are not the same status. It could be based on religion. Then I would say the two should not agree to marry. This girl obviously does not know the consequences otherwise she would not be asking this question. This girl is unsure because she knows going against her family will cause problems. Why would she risk it?

Yeah maybe. All i know is that this is a common problem and some girls just need to get out of this stupid phase and see things as they truly are. Whoever is meant for you will find you. I dont think theres any need to worry about people that your family cant even accept. There are bigger things to worry about.

So true! Probably the most appropriate comment in this whole thread/topic. Except when the person finds you and parents still don't except them ?.
