THE WAY WOMEN PRACTICE KES IN SIKHISM IS POLICED IN A GENDERED WAY. IT’S LESS ABOUT RELIGION AND MORE ABOUT KEEPING SOCIETY HAPPY WHILE PERFORMING FEMININITY.

WEARING A TURBAN MAKES A WOMAN “TOO MASCULINE” AND CUTTING HER HAIR SOMEHOW MAKES HER “MORALLY LOOSE”.

THE IDEAL SIKH WOMAN FOR MOST SIKHS, IS ONE WHO KEEPS THE HAIR ON HER HEAD BUT STILL REMOVES FACIAL AND BODY HAIR.

WOMEN WHO CHOSE TO KEEP THEIR BODY HAIR OR CHOOSE TO WEAR THE TURBAN ARE SEEN AS MASCULINE AND NOT FIT FOR MARRIAGE.

I Am not married yet but I prefer Singhni with dastar and body hairs don't bother me at all because they are natural. It's society which made body hair on a woman labelled as masculine. In reality it's just hair and all humans have it. I personally think that Kaurs with dastar are beautiful and feminine in a way that isn't worldly.

It is easy for those born in Rehat keeping Amritdhari families not others.

bro nobody is born in rehit and keeping it is an effort for all sikhs, surprisingly it's tougher in such households

All the original Sikhs were born in Non-Sikh families. From Bhai Mardana, Bhai Bhalla, Baba Buddha, the first 3 Gurus: , as well as many others. Nobody is born into Rehat, I've personally seen Sikhs born into Non-Amritdhari families become better than those who came from Anritdharis, (vice versa is also true).

If they made the post related to Balpreet Kaur, I'd support it, but since they decided to pick Harnaam Kaur, I'm opposed to it. One of them is a role model, and the other is trying to build controversy for her own gain.

I'm not even sure what to call Harnaam Kaur. She started out seemingly innocent but then somewhere fell completely apart. The modelling in skimpy clothes, the tattoos, the bearded wedding photo shoot (though she was not engaged), alcohol openly, I remember a photo from a long time ago she was clearly wearing a gatra in the photo. What happened?
