Wanted: 'Wife' going to study in Canada

14 posts in this topic

Indian families desperate to get their sons to Canada are posting ads in newspapers to find brides who are on track to being accepted into a Canadian university and willing to take a new husband along, says a former Canadian citizenship judge.

The ads are part of what some media in India are reporting is a booming industry based on families paying the travel and education expenses of students studying abroad, in exchange for marriage.

Ads for students typically seek a young woman who has passed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) required by Canadian post-secondary schools. On the flip side, parents of those who have passed the English exam and face paying $50,000 to $60,000 for a two-year diploma in Canada are also placing ads to find “spouses” willing to foot the bill.

I never understood the craze of desis to go to foreign countries.

If you're living in metro cities like mumbai, delhi, chandigarh, etc , they're already way too modernized , with almost every foreign company catering to comfort them in terms of food , clothing, entertainment, etc .

Chandigarh has beautiful roads and very clean. There is also a beautiful lake there. The roads and airports in Punjab have improved a lot compared to few decades ago.

Exactly what I am saying. What is sukh nowadays , esp for youth ? Food, Clothing, entertainment, sex. And they can have all of it modern cities and that too with vast variety. Unless you're a homosexual , india is not constricting to you and therefore I see no reason to migrate , unless you're a homosexual in india which is like being trapped in a big jail and being in the 1860s. not so modern now

What I don't get is

1. Why are Jats leaving jat land ie punjab

2. If you have C$ 60,000 to spend why not hire Canadian Lawyers to secure a Work Permit which is a step above student visa n step below PR.

3. I don't think girls getting good scores would be stupid to accept such proposals.

4. Good part is Intelligent girls & their family don't have to pay Dowry for wedding.

Maybe the material goodies is not enough.

There are probably other factors as well.

I remember a show when Harjap Bhangal  (well known immigration lawyer in the UK) was presenting. He mentioned how there is less corruption in general and rule of law in western countries and how that does play into people wanting to move out.

That's a bit ignorant, like there aren't loads of other communities that haven't been settled and part and parcel of the society there for millennia.

One word "Favouritism"

Jats being ruling class in Punjab don't pay taxes, get free electricity n water, get bank loans at cheaper rates which they later get write-offed.

Still they wanna leave !

Why punjabis want to leave India?

No jobs in Punjab. Discrimination against rural folks by city folks. Hard to get any work done in any sector without bribing. You have no opportunity in Punjab if you dont have money. Most of the people who wants to leave are basically from farming background. They are barely barely break-even after their hard work in fields.

Why above method?

i don't understand punjabis on choosing the most stupidest way to migrate. If South Indians can fill hundreds of thousands of IT jobs in silicon without spending any "migration" illegal scheme then what's stopping punjabis to study in India and get work visa or something. We got the habit of choosing the easy way out.

You know there is NO good IT school in Punjab, right?  You must be thinking things are equal for Hindus and Sikhs in Hindu India!
