Job description

The Khalsa Secondary Academy is a Sikh faith school educating students from 11-18 years of age. The Academy is committed to a high standard of Sikh collective worship and requires a lead (qualified or unqualified teacher) to teach the Sikh studies curriculum to all students. This part of the role is expected to be around 0.7 FTE. In addition, the post includes the role of the Sikh Chaplain whose main function is to provide religious services, spiritual guidance, and counselling to those students, staff and families in need.

The Trust is developing a Sikh studies framework that include some or all of the following depending on the key stage:

• Sikh Philosophy or Gurmat Studies
• Sikh History
• Sikh Social, Moral and Cultural Studies 
• Study of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
• Sikh Religion and Comparative studies
• Sikh Religious practices and the British Law
• Sikh Protocols, Rehat Maryada and Conflictions

The post holder is expected to support the development of this framework and deliver teaching and learning in these areas.
