Amrit required for bana/chola?

So as I am preparing to take amrit I will also start to wear a bana.

Do I need to take amrit first? I don't want to start any arguments with anyone.

You can wear bana as long as you are rehitvaan

Anyone can wear anything. In days of Sikh gurus, even hindu and muslim people used to wear dastaar and choley . After all , a chola is nothing but a kind of kurta. 

Amrit is not required for chola , high character is required . I know people who used to wear 12 inch kirpan but are not in jail because of sexual misconduct. 

So both inside and outside is required. Only outside will not make you great. but I could be wrong

Without getting too far into this, I would say, whatever you do, don't present yourself as an Amritdhari Singh, and don't let people think that you are an Amritdhari Singh (e.g., don't take the Panj Piyare portion of parshad), and don't do seva which is reserved for Amritdhari Singhs (such as parshad).

The thing I find annoying is a bana is a wide kurta.

For an amritdhari it can be a bana, but for a non amritdhari it can be a wide kurta.

If I do wear one, should I wear it blank without a hajoori and dumalla around waist?

Do what you want, but if someone asks if your Amritdhari or not, (for some odd reason), just say no. If they ask why; say you are preparing to take Amrit.

Should I wear it on it's own or with a hajoori and the cotton around waist?
