Singh it is best to seek advice from a Local Career Counsellor & your parents.

Frankly there's a huge difference in Costs & fee's involved in becoming a doctor or a lawyer.

I know someone who had the potential to become a doctor but due to cost & cut throat competition in India parents chose to play safe. They owned a Pharmacy so they made him a Pharmacist.

If your parents are doctors or lawyers it's better to follow in their footsteps. They can guide you more than professors, bosses or colleagues in your profession.

It's best not to change your "Default Settings" if you get my drift !

Doctor - Lawyer ? Umm...They're both good things to study but if you live in the UK you got to look at things this way:

1) You study medicine and at the end of it you WILL get a job as a Doctor.

2) You study Law and at the end of it you WILL get a job working as an Admin Assistant the local bakery head office.

This country is choc a block full of brown and black Law graduates who never got their training contract because the training contracts go to the white privately educated toffs while the the multitude of black and brown yoots dem with Law degrees fight for the handfull of scraps.

My advice to you is this: Only go to University and do a degree if you're doing a medicine related subject...be it Pharmacy, Dentristry, Radiography etc. There's always a good job at the end of it which makes the student debt worthwhile. If you're planning on studying anything else: Don't !!!!        Don't put yourself and family in debt for the next 20 years - Do an apprenticeship instead. Get paid as you learn and there's a job at the end of it.

If you haven't already, try some work experience. Get an idea of what the job entails. If you have friends or family in either profession, pick their brains. Ask what they love or hate about the job. If they had the opportunity, would they do it all over again? Or would they choose a different line of work?

Are you more interested in science or in the political sphere, (western law is extremely political, with juries not judges deciding cases)? Once you've got that settled then you can know what you want to study.
