SIKH WOMEN GATHER AT MAI BHAGO RETREAT

1. Don't get drawn into debates. They're on the "right side of history" if you know what that means. Anyone who provides any resistance is a mysoginist, racist, xenophobe, anti-Guru, anti-Gurmat, etc, etc. They'll distort Gurbani and history to win the argument. In these situations it's less about what you say but how you say it.

2. Take gentle jabs from the sidelines with humour. These people are so far gone they won't know how to respond. They're perpetually triggered, which means they have no perspective, balance, or desire to compromise. Those types aren't looking to reach a consensus, but to play the victim for personal gain. Don't give them that opportunity.

3. Be beyond reproach. No point in trying to fight for truth, integrity, and Sikhi if you struggle to meet even the most basic standards. Nobody is saying you've got to become a mahapurash immediately, but at least acquit yourself in a manner befitting someone for whom the Sikh faith is dearer to them than their own life.

cry bullies  will never be able to cope with being real singhnian because they cannot handle reality ...

I'm sorry that the new generation are so blind to how they are being manipulated by their professors and teachers and the media.  It's all down to lack of true context ... from lack of true connection to the unvarnished truth of the past, of the present.

I guess someone forgot to tell Mai Bhago that her place was at home making the rotia and doing her husband's laundry huh?

This thread has turned into the largest joke filled with chauvinistic males that I have ever seen. Ignore Gurbani outright: as Gurmukh look at ALL with a single eye of equality for in each and every heart the divine light is contained. SGGSJ   Single eye of equality btw is a term which means and has always meant action. Not lip service. Usually applied to law. It means treating ALL equally.

Min your little male utopia of a world, half the human race is consigned to living as servants to the other half simply by virtue of what body they were born into. Sounds a lot like casteism doesn't it? And in fact the lowest castes had the jobs of serving those in higher castes so in your perfect male utopia model women are the low caste. Here to serve you and do you laundry and cook for you and endure pregnancy after pregnancy for you going through excruciating pain and physical torture to give you (preferably) a male child.

Its because of your chauveniatic thinking that kept women from sciences and engineering and medical fields for ages. Oh women can't do that they are too simple all they know how to do is burn the dinner and wash my clothes. You say all the advances were made by men? That's why! Because women were kept oppressed by the likes of you!

THIS is not Sikhi! Not at all! My husband was right no use arguing with fools just like Guru Nanak Dev Ji said. And he'd be appalled at what some of you wrote here.

Your culture rather have women dance topless around poles and have men slip dollars in thongs.  Your culture tells a women is a sex object and needs to have multiple sex partners over the weekend while they are drunk and/or on drugs.

That is not MY culture....

That is your culture.....you favor women walking around naked.  Also you are not a woman.....did you forget, you said you are the soul only.  Plus you don't have a husband because your husband would mean a male partner, but sense both of you don't recognize genders, gender roles can't be applied to your relationship.  You (soul) and partner (soul) lied before Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and claimed you are opposite genders.  This makes your Anand Karaj invalid.  Also you lied to Punj Pyare by taking the title kaur.  Therefore your didn't take amrit.  you are not married in the Sikh way or did not take amrit.  You are an imposter.  Your whole life is a lie.

bro way too Harsh ... She is a product of her education and the leftist agenda and cannot see that , she may have done new things as a Singhni in the Canadian Navy but there ARE many police officers , army ,scientists, Doctors , economist etc who are also Sabat Soorat in INDIA  of all places and around the world  ... which she fails to acknowledge . How many years does one have to be a Singhni before one can actually see people as equal but different ?

She chooses to imagine that guys will magically give up being 'lazy' in the house , start being domestic goddesses in her stead  she sounds too much like all those girls growing up during the eighties /nineties who are guilty of what Paglia refers to as bourgeois Feminism : where Men are the enemy and need to be more like females and act like their 'wives' instead; women who are happiest in the heart of their families shaping their children's minds are at best lost causes, or at worst deluded and oppressed .

My sister was/is a victim of it and her medicine was choosing a traditionally minded Punjabi Male who pushed her to be her better self whether she liked it or not. We have had the complaints and tears for sympathy at family get togethers and to be honest ALL the family's females just put her straight, feeding and caring for your family is more important than a job because the love and effort you put in now travels across time bolstering all the descendants to come, our words of comfort and history advise and inform generations of sikhs . But I guess being architects of the future  sikh people ...that is not important enough and bragworthy enough for some ... go figure

GURU NEVER CREATED KAURS... the whole thing about giving women amrit & calling them KAURS only started post 1900 in response to naamdharis who first started giving amrit to women around 1850... there's written historical proof about this... talk to any old mahapurekhs from Taksal or from Nihangs or any Sants & in private they will admit this is true.

Theres handwritten hukamname of Mata Sahib Deva Ji where Mata has not used the word Kaur with her name but used 'Devi' instead.

The oldest & very first rehitname that was prepared by Bhai Chaupa Singh Ji in 1700 on the command of Dasam Pita himself in atleast 2 places clearly says women are not to be given khanda Di pahul.

Do some research & you will find that the word 'Kaur' actually means PRINCE & not PRINCESS... mahankosh even says so!!!

Guru Sahib afforded women respect... there's no doubting that... but equality is a modern day invention started around 1900s.... how can there be equality when the divine will of God deliberately made the two genders distinct & ordained each to fulfill certain roles?!

Anyone who keeps barking on about Akal Takhat maryada can keep barking... the bottom line is that maryada is man made & despite what you may think at the end of the day the Akal Takhat is completely corrupted & has been for almost 100 years.

You're the reason why Feminazis are rising. Not a single Mahapurkh in the past century refused to give Khanda Di Pahul to woman, I guess all of them have been disobeying Guru Sahib. The name argument that Dasam Nindaks use to discredit Dasam Pita's Bani is now being applied to the Mother of the Khalsa...oh the irony.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
