Guru Gobind Singh Children's Foundation (GGSCF) is a Foundation run by children/youth with a vision to help other children meet their basic needs, while adding meaning to their lives, and carrying out the work in the spirit of the teachings of the Sikh Gurus. The Foundation is committed to raising funds and awareness for children in third world countries, and to involve local youth in service for humanity. The GGSCF aims to provide challenging events while keeping with the followings and principals of Sikh teachings.

This year’s …children helping children… run/walk challenge will take place on:

Saturday August 16th 2003 and Sunday August 17th 2003

Toronto Track and Field Centre -York University

4700 Keele Street, Toronto Ontario M3J 1P3

Between 11 am and 6 pm both days (registration begins at 9:30am)

August 16 is for children/youth 14 and under. Participants will be given time cards and are encouraged to run/walk as much as possible. Individuals will be placed in different age groups and participants with the longest amount of hours run throughout the day, will be awardd prizes.

August 17 is open to all ages and is a team event. There MUST be 5 members per team. All participants’ individual times will be counted together to give one team time. The teams that run the longest will be awarded prizes in different age groups.

Donations collected will be used to sponsor children in third world countries. At present the Foundation sponsors 72 children mostly through other charities such as Foster Parents Plan, World Vision, SOS Children’s Villages and two organizations in India. Most

importantly, this event will raise the spirit of children in the community and show them that anything is possible through responsibility, dedication, and commitment.

Bring completed pledge sheets in the brown folder with your RUN NUMBER to the day of the event you have registered for. If you need another pledge sheet before the event, contact one of the organizers below and they will send it to you. Teams and individuals that collect the most pledges will receive prizes.
