I read the site and it left out so much from the story.. Like where they were given a choice to be born as Sri Vishnu's foes (less rebirths) or friends (more births); and they chose foes because it meant that theyd be separated for less births from Sri Vishnu rather than the other option.

That is so illogical if you are saying Vishnu is a good guy ...it is like saying if you are friends with a good man you are going to be punished by Akal Purakh whereas if you are a good man's enemy you with get rewarded by Akal Purakh ..It is irrelevant to a sikh however as just need to put a name to a face ....

Please don't get entangled or criticizing of three dieties of hinduism : brahma vishnu shiva

In words of Mazumdar , a bengali hindu historian

Quote

Its most notable expression is to be found in the theological conception of the Trimūrti, i.e., the manifestation of the supreme God in three forms of Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Śiva... But the attempt cannot be regarded as a great success, for Brahmā never gained an ascendancy comparable to that of Śiva or Viṣṇu, and the different sects often conceived the Trimūrti as really the three manifestations of their own sectarian god, whom they regarded as Brahman or Absolute.[12]

Who 's this supreme god that vedas speak of ?

its known as "brahm" or "parbrahm" , same words SGGS used as well numerous times.

Our hindu brothers got confused on this one ! If you ask a vaishnav brother who's the supreme god, he will say vishnu.

If you ask a shaivite who's the supreme god, he will say shiva . No one worships brahma btw !

I had read little on english translation of 10 major upanishads . Upanishads are like embedded texts within vedas . Like how sukhmani sahib is embedded in SGGS.

One of the foremost ones , Katha upanishad says

Quote

This is that eternal Asvattha Tree with its root above and branches below. That root, indeed, is called the Bright; That is Brahman and That alone is the Immortal. In That all worlds are contained and none can pass beyond. This, verily, is That.

2) Whatever there is—the whole universe—vibrates because it has gone forth from Brahman, which exists as its Ground. That Brahman is a great terror, like a poised thunderbolt. Those who know It become immortal.

3) From terror of Brahman, fire burns; from terror of It, the sun shines; from terror of It, Indra and Vayu and Death, the fifth, run.

This sounds quite familiar to gurbani "Bhae vich agan ... bhae vich ... " (so sorry don't remember the full shabad).

Ignorance comes because people don't want to understand their own scriptures

MAN, please possess them ! I am willing to PAY ! But just get these in a sikh museum . Please don't keep with yourself forever lol.

They seem historical ! It will be of value to us I think , as a community

In this world, of not having a Khalistan or Theocratic Punjab, I'd avoid just putting it in a museum owned by Indian lands. Most Punjabis now have been to desensitized to even support maintaining anything Sikh related. If you were to go to Nankana, you'd see none of the historical things that were there before, (such as Guru Sahib's kitchen, Guru Sahib's utensils, or even his home, which they destroyed to build a Gurdwara). There are non-religious things owned by non-sikhs that still stayed the same for thousands of years, and we Sikhs change everything in a few years.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji said that following these Vedas one is led away from Akaal Purkh. He also said that the Deities are arrogant and consider themselves supreme. That isn't criticism its nothing more than an objective evaluation of the truth.

All of the Devta are far below a true Gursikh, in fact Guru Granth Sahib Ji even states that Maya has them entangled in her web. All of them succumb to their own flaws, Shiva succumbed to rage, Brahma succumb to pride, Vishnu fell to lust and pride. Sure in terms of Spiritality they are above ordinary people, but they themselves are bound by death. None of them know anything about God and all these scriptures that they released onto the world are devoid of Naam and Gurbani.

No, but that's the thing, because they built a huge gurdwara to replace it we can't see his home, this was before photography. You can't even see pre-Ranjit Singh Harmandir Sahib.

This is sukhmani sahib .

5th ashthapadi starting on the left bottom page,

BTW did anyone else notice second line of the first pada is missing in this pothi ..It misses the line

"ek bhi na dae das bhi hir lae"

So , baani as we know it is

"das bastu lae paache paave.

ek bast kaaran bikhot gavaave.

ek bhi na dae das bhi hir lae"

but here in this pothi, we have

"das bastu lae paache paave.

k bhi na dae das bhi hir lae"

even 'eedi' is missing .

Perhaps someone made writing mistake

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
