my list of usual suspects runs long but for this I could imagine somebody who's name begins with T

Funnily enough some members, on this forum, contend that he has full right to spread such rot because he is a mahapurakh. In New-Zealand he performed an ardass that may all his foes die of the plague. They are still hale and hearty...

I see what you mean the main writers under the label  are

NIddar Singh the lost warrior

3ho singhni selling yoga related books

Amandeep singh Madra

Parmjit SIngh

john Keay (the tartan turban) whose previous books glorified the East India Company

They are basically interested in making a buck. Madra is an exception, Nidar and Parmjit are plain bandwagon hoppers. Publishing Keay seems to go against their mission of exhibiting pre-colonial Sikhi. Now that Nidar is in Germany, he has remarried with a woman from 3HO. It should be noted that initially the man opposed them and is now in cohorts with them. Basically he's selling garbage to the incredulous and convincing them that he is some supreme martial artist.

I think John Keay's latest falls under contemporary account of Ranjit SIngh's court and the internal politics of the sikh empire.

After going through several pages of discussion in regards to the history of the rule of Maharaj Ranjit Singh.

We need to see what lessons have been learnt.

If we ever find ourselves in a situation whereby there is a political void and an opportunity for Sikh rule is once again established.

What can we do to ensure that we do not make the same mistakes as our forefathers?

We may make different mistakes though.

We may make different mistakes though.

1. NEVER take someone at their word EVER AGAIN ,make them deliver first before doing anything

2. ALWAYS have contigencies in place for being betrayed

3. NEVER have a Non-sikh controlling the treasury or Ammunition/Defence warchest

4. ALWAYS plan with the past mistakes in mind and the future panth's advancement (security was an afterthought during our rise)

5. EDUCATION of the WOMEN is paramount to success of the society

6. Maximum attempt to learn new/latest strategem , learn about how psychological tools are used against a country and train everyone to be critical thinkers.

7. Temper the religious rabble rousing with a certain philosophical and contemporary political realism. Unfortunately Punjab is situated on planet Earth in a primarily third world country (albeit one with pockets of prosperity and modernity), not in Sachkhand, so adjust to what the uncomfortable, occasionally unkempt situation is on the ground, instead of striving for immediate utopian dreams of perfection.

Great stuff Jkv.

Now our forefathers did a lot of things right.

What were those things and what we need to bring forward if there is a Sikh political state?
