On India's 68th republic day, we turn the focus on to the highest decorated regiment not only the Indian army but also the Common Wealth- The SIKH REGIMENT. Known for their bravery and courage, it is here that young boys from the Sikh community are groomed and trained into tough soldiers. WION's Shylaja Varma gets you this report from the regiment's training centre in Jharkhand.

Doesn't seem impressive at all. Looks like the Indian state consciously or subconsciously are pumping up Sikhs to be cannon fodder without proper training. If you look at many special forces in India they've employed a lot of training from USA, Israel, Philipines for various tactics and I have yet to see anything of significance in Punjab in terms of Sikh regiment.

They know despite Sikhs serving when push comes to shove if things go down there is a potential of General Shubeg SInghs.

You are probably right but something is better than nothing !

Armed services is just a career, Sikhs were present on both sides incumbent & anti in 1984.

I think blue star was a political fiasco which could have been avoided by both sides.

At least these guys are training and (hopefully!) staying off drugs. Folks back home are between a rock and a hard place.
