Yes, same here, I tried accessing the first one, as that's the one I normally visit, but just gets stuck on the wheel going round.

Never been on the other one.

Real shame, wonder if they simply lost funding or were unable to manage the sites! Using Searchgurbani atm, not the simplest platform for searching Shabads. Regardless, found what I required. thx for checking.

Srigranth.org is still down...obviously before Feb.

MESSAGE TO USERS:

A number of websites, including srigranth.org, on this server are currently not working as the server machine had completely failed in the beginning of Feb 2017, while machine managers were on vacation.
While we are back it will take time to restore the websites. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please bear with us, as it will take some time.

SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVES WHILE THIS WEBSITE IS BEING RESTORED:

IF YOU OWN IPHONE OR IPAD:

INSTALL "Isher Micromedia" App from App store and use it. This App has been available for quite some time and has matured. However, improvements will happen in the future

IF YOU OWN AN ANDROID DEVICE (phone or tablet):

INSTALL "Gurbani Explorer" App from Google Play store and use it. This App is a beta version. Please report bugs if you notice.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM ABOVE DESCRIBED APPS:

These Apps are complex databases of multiple Sikh scriptures (Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Dasam Granth, Kabit & Vaaraan by Bhai Gurdas, and important writings by Bhai Nand Lal) in Gurmukhi, Devanagari and Roman, with their multiple translations that can be searched and read with ease. Apps use multiple easy to understand icons that are needed to be tapped for making selections. After searching the desired text, the user is presented with multiple reading choices. Not knowing what is possible, one may not make the maximum benefit of these App. Exploration is highly recommended. In the home page users make selection out of available choices. Once out of home page, the users will be in one of three kind of pages (1) Search-page, (2) Results page(s) and (3) Reading page(s). It is important to realize that possible options and actions will depend on the kind of page you are in.

The best thing about srigranth.org was that it allowed you to choose what you wanted to show (Prof. Sahib Singh Translation, Manmohan Singh, Dr. Sant Singh, Faridkot, etc.) and also let you hide useless stuff (like Hindi and Roman transliteration).

As an alternative, you can use searchgurbani.com, but it's not configurable like srigranth.org used to be. The nice thing about searchgurbani.com is that it allows you to search or read all four canonical sources of Sikhism (Guru Granth Sahib, Dasam Granth Sahib, Bani Bhai Gurdas Ji, Kalaam Bhai Nand Lal Ji), although it doesn't have the original text for all of Bhai Nand Lal Ji (just translations).

The interface, ease of use and search functions are more user friendly on Srigranth.org relative to SearchGurbani site. On my Android tablet, I found it impossible to effectively look up tuks despite using all the search options.

I find it absolutely stunning that srigranth.org is still not up after a few months.

I don't know how incompetent the webhost must be to have no backups whatsoever. Secondly, did the site admins also not have a single backup? Assuming they had a backup, it should not have taken more than half a day to get things back up and running on a new server.

It's not like they would have to hand-translate 1430 pages of Gurbani over again by themselves.

    • Sister i have nothing against someone who removes hair for medical purposes but what about the people who still wear a kirpan and do sharaab and other things. Not all amritdharis are bad i know but the ones that are really create hate and dislike for the ones who are not.    Its the experinces i have had in real life that have made me label amritdharis as frauds fakes.   Its gonna hit fan the the videos i am gonna post.
    • I could do japji sahib in about 6-7 mins
    • Are you sure ? I have see ladies and heard who have had threading and laser removal despite being amritdhari. No they don't cope fine.   Without mentioning anyone i know many amrtidhari people and trust me i have had a few experinces that are not nice when it came to money.   My fellow member i know i am the most hated and disliked user to exist on this site as of now. So why don't we have a vote system to see who hates me the most so then i will leave. Personally i have nothing against anyone on this site and i am glad that they gave me good advice being amritdhari or not i am very thankful for the time effort spent on me .   But the things i have seen in real life involving amritdhari people are very shocking to mention on here publicly. So thats why i label them in real life  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. I will never insult my Guru Ji but i hope God exposes the false prophets that exist today in our society especially amritdharis gurdwara people as well
    • No need to look at just Mahapursh. Some of the bhindri taksal Singhs have really long Nitnem, barely finish before going to sleep. Bibeki Jatha Singhs daily read Panj Granthi in addition to Maryada prescribed bani.  Sant Attar Singh read 100 Japji Sahib daily, Sant Jarnail Singh I hear between 101 and 125 per day. For this you need to be reaching high speed or in surti to read additional paath. I knew a Singh who reads Sukhmani Sahib in 30 mins. Japji Sahib for relatively fast readers is 5 or 6 mins.
    • Is there a maryada for reading specific banian or are you referring to timings?
