Join us for a special screening of this 1960s film which follows the Mani Singh family who lived in Queensborough. In the film, the family members attend school, pray in the temple, participate in performances of traditional Indian dance and music, and enjoy a picnic in Queen's Park.The film explores the theme common to many immigrants who look both backwards toward their homeland and ahead to the uncertain rewards of their adopted country. 
 

The film will be introduced by the City's Museum Curator and Archivist who will speak about the Museum's current feature exhibition, Ornamenting the Ordinary: Crafts of South Asia, and the acquisition of the documentary. The film will be followed by a Q & A session with family and community members who will discuss the film, Gurdwara history, and the family.
