Respect Manvir Singh a lot; however, there are no such things as bad words as language for the most part other than Gurbani is usually man-made.

I think you know what he means saying things to be hurtful to others hearts, I am sure if someone described your family member in the derogatory manner , or questioned your ethics or your Guru ji it would hurt on a level.
