what type of impact has punjabs brain drain having on Punjab long term.  With so many Sikhs who are highly skilled an educated moving to the cities like mumbai or immigrating to other countries like united states.

Brain drain? Most of the Punjabis I have seen coming to the west are unskilled and their education level is also not so high. But once they come to the west they gain the skills to make a good living.

What about all those Punjabi doctors and lawyers, they aren't stupid, but rather not offered opportunitties back home?

In all honestly why not is the question, India as a whole is overcrowded and only has a limited job pool.

Too much competition in India, makes sense for them to migrate. Nepotism is greater in India also.
