I'm from Canada, and I was just wondering, how common are Sikh-Muslim relationships really? I've heard a lot of things like A LOT of sikh girls date muslim guys. I've also heard that Muslim guys brag a lot about getting into relationships with Sikh girls. I've seen a few comments from Sikhs who have experienced Muslim guys bragging about it. How common is it really? Is it just inflated internet nonsense? I've heard it is mostly a UK thing.

It was VERY common during the 80s and 90s. I don't know what the situation is now because I'm older and I don't live in a sullah dominated area anymore. You'd have to ask the younguns, but so many of them seem clueless these days I don't know if they'd even notice it happening - or maybe they turn a blind eye because they are scared or indifferent? Some of the guys who are now in their  30s/40s/50s fought it when they were younger. They are ones who brought it to every ones attention despite our people's persistent effort to sweep it under the rug. They were spot on with their analysis back then - that if we don't put a lid on it, it will get even worse - and it did. A good few apneean went on to get groomed into prostitutes.

It's not inflated internet stuff. People were highlighting and trying to combat this since before there was an internet.

On the positive, because these paks went on to groom hordes of vulnerable white girls (in the thousands), the media, police and social services were eventually forced to confront it. Having pictures of groups of Pakistani guys in the newspapers charged with this kind of stuff is a regular occurrence here. Because of this and the efforts of people like Mohan Singh of SAS the denialists amongst our own people have a tougher time trying to play it down these days.

You say it's mostly a UK thing, but for all we know it could be happening elsewhere with our own people being oblivious to it like they were here for decades?

Yeah, I figured Sikh girls would avoid Muslim guys more now. Like how can they not be weary of them? Do you see a lot of legit Muslim guy - Sikh girl relationships in the UK? It's not common here, and here we don't have the Sikh vs Muslim stuff; we're just brown, so we're on the same side.

A Sikh girl and I were talking about this two days ago. It's terrifying. I actually spoke to a Sikh and he was helping a Sikh woman who had been groomed in America. In the end, they tried to sell her into a marriage with like a 60 year old. It's fucken disgusting. She got away though.

Inflated internet nonsense. You've read a few stories and now you think it's somehow the norm here. This sort of nonsense always gets our attention, gets pumped up since we love our neighbours so much

according to the UK sikh survey 1 in 7 surveyed had been or knew of a person personally who had been groomed  so it is not a little thing. People who go through this are damaged very very badly and usually don't get married and settle down ...

It makes them promiscuous too.

think about what you said and what I said , you can know of someone being a Mum, auntie , brother , sister , father  doesn't mean that it is you , and it is possible from age 9 to be groomed what about those kids ...whoever it happens to , nobody deserves it .

Being promiscuous is a different question  and I don't think they asked that , if they did all the young lads would come out as greater rate of  promiscuous behaviour , because they think it is OK to be like that , 'cos their guys innit' and their folks would say 'it's different because they won't get pregnant' . Double standards and lack of any serious morals and ethics is the cause and being too busy to know their own kids.

Nah, I get out and about, I meet and mix with people of all races. I tell you straight up, Sikh men have MUCH lower rates of promiscuity then a hell of a lot of communities out there. Sure, you can point at a few jumped up 'jack the lad types' who are man-whores, but overall Sikh men are like angels compared to a lot of other races. You don't see hordes of half-Sikh kids running about because some Sikh man has been putting it about carelessly like I see with other people.

A lot of Sikh girls/women have been spending the last few decades smashing punday over Sikh blokes heads over all manner of things, both petty and relevant. Let's face it, Sikh blokes generally have a good rep. Now that we can more clearly see what men of other communities get up to, maybe Sikh females can start appreciating them better. For every clubbing, bhangramuffin, jumped up *edited* Sikh male, there are hordes of straight laced ones (often way too straight laced in my opinion btw).

And I still hold onto my point, girls becoming sexually active at a young age (whether by being groomed or by stupid decision making) pretty much invariably leads to promiscuity. I'm not saying this judgmentally - just matter of factly.

You talk about double standards. Face facts, many apneean get away with all manner of gundh themselves and then try and act like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths. Then have the gall to try and blame Sikh males for it. They straight abuse the freedom they have been given. Some 20 year old at uni or at work  is different to a 9 year old.

What do you mean by straight-laced?

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
