There can be room for only one Indian sub-continent country of India and Pakistan as America's chamcha. As of now - and the past few decades - Pakistan has India beat on that particular front. Simply put, there's too much Pakistan has that India does not in order to keep the States interested.

Wasn't India allied with the Soviets during the reign of Aurangzeb's reincarnation, (Indra)? Daas highly doubts that the Hindu Government has really changed on the internal struggles, and still closer to Russia than America.

I think you're right, although don't quote me on it.

What India is attempting now with the U.S. is, I'm guessing, mostly for economic expansion. Pakistan has America's attention on the geo-political front.

Thing about India is that, you can't say it is entirely in the US camp. It's relationship with Russia is very close, and has been right after 1947. The closeness between India and the US has only started due to economic reasons. India is also very close to Iran since the fall of the Shah in 1979 and we all know the US hates Iran. India is close to both the Arabs and Israelis simultaneously.

 

On the other hand, India and China are rivals and enemies. This is the reason India doesn't join the Shanghai Cooperation organization which Russia and China created as a rival to NATO and western economic power. Russia wants India to join but it would be a bit of an awkward situation due to China laying claim on Indian territory.

 

So India is more of an non aligned nation. As MisterrSingh has rightly said, Pakistan is the only real ally of the US in the region but the way they hid OBL for all those years and covertly support the Taliban, it seems the ISI is as chalaak as the CIA in playing a double game with allies.

how true that is!!!. India isn't capable of anything itself only relying on being the pet poodle of USA and UK and France mostly.  PM Modi comes in and first thing is fly around the world begging for investment in India

I think India applied for membership to the SCO and it was approved in in July 2015

When it comes to aspects of intelligence (in terms of the ISI) and how they deal with the U.S., fair play to Pakistan because they've got some balls on them, lol. I'm not sure how much of that is America playing the (very) long game and allowing them a very long rope by which Pakistan will eventually hang itself, or whether Pakistan are genuinely running circles around the States, as well as keeping their oar in with jihadists; in essence playing both sides, and somehow succeeding in doing so for quite a while. 

It's almost as if the Pakistani hierarchy realises that, as a fully fledged functioning state they are a mess domestically (and they've reconciled themselves with this fact behind closed doors), but due to their key geographic location, they know they are simply too important to fall, hence the bravado on their part that they are a big player in the region and somewhat internationally, too.
