Hello everyone. I was having this thought for a long time. With new medical breakthroughs happening what if we found cure for aging and subsequently prevent death. Then what would happen to all religions. We humans usually follow religion because we are scared of death and the after life.

Simple, start following the correct reason to practice Sikhi. Put thought and effort into what can pull a person out of their minds created hell and/or temporary happiness. If Sikhs are scared of death, they need to start learning from the Naam around them. The true Guru has infused himself( his teachings) in the world. Lessons are learned everyday by those who are truly paying attention to Gurbani. Without Gurbani the Naam cannot be seen in creation. Some listen to their minds, others to their worldly knowledge, some to their gut feelings, but rare is that person who will leave all this behind and follow the path of Naam. Those who listen carefully to Vaheguru can hear his teachings. Such a person does not fear death. He embraces it with open arms. The power of Gurbani cannot be measured or limited. A man with ego can say I am not scared of death but death will destroy his very existence he holds claim too. Many warriors in the past have not feared death but they did not attain salvation; the true lasting peace. They did not hold God's name in their mind. A man with no belief in God can say I don't fear death but his mind is polluted by good and bad actions. His life was based on false hope and desires of the mind. As the dog is led in many directions by its owner, this man has wasted his life in countless pleasures. The soul never dies. Only the clay is reborn. It takes a form and the people enjoy this clay for a short while. Death of consciousness cannot be escaped. Not even the gods and goddesses could escape.

Some people would definitely take it an excuse to go mental, it's true, but not all of them.

Consider the Jews for example. They don't even believe in an afterlife, so there is no promise of a reward in the next world to entice them to follow their religion or be good to each other on earth - and yet they do follow it, and they are good to their fellow men. There are several reasons for this. One is that humans recognize, innately, that we are accountable to each other as well as God. It is the way God intended us to be, and the way we evolved. The example of the Jews also shows that faith does not have to be a product of cynical self-interest and fear of death. It can arise from characteristics altogether more noble. This should be very encouraging to anyone who considers himself/herself a believer.

I respect ur progressive thinking bro,

But have just simple question for u:

One science know the chemical composition of any liquid, they can reproduce it by reactions, they were still unable to produce blood, which is the main coolant kind of fluid in the body. And finally science declared back in 2015 that it is IMPOSSIBLE to produce blood on labs.

When they know its chemical composition why cant they produce it then?

So try to look something feasible in real,

Sikhi emphasis on great statement which bhagat kabir in gurbani talks about- die before you die (let mind go back to its source in jot saroop and realize there is no death). Our identification with transient body and mind is real death but identification with ONE non dual inner universal spirit unchanging (Eka jot, ekangkar- pure awake awareness aware of itself) is real immortality and amrit.

Death is a blessing by Wahiguru on the jeevas.

It is by the cycle of births and deaths, that we can make evolution as purer souls and thus one day merge in Wahiguru.

Death is of the body, not of the soul.

Death means libertaion of the soul encaged in a particular body, and as we all know, the soul has not only the gross or physical covering on it, but also the astral one, the causal one, and the mental one.

Kal Purukh in his mayavee creation, has set all sort of traps, to keep the souls encaged with different bodies; and from this web, not even the devis, devtas, gods, godesses, of the status of the trinity can get released, so what to say of those who worship them.

But as long as Wahiguru keeps showering His Daya Meher on the jeevas, the souls will be getting freed from this huge play of Maya and Kal, with the aid of Naam or Shabad alone, as it is the only power superior to Kal Purukh.

One is Kal Purukh, and the other one Supreme, is Akal Purukh, means beyond the reach of Kal.

Even then, Kal does nothing out of his own, he is a caretaker, a faithful sewak of Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Why has Wahiguru created all this, even if expalined, we would never understand, as we are spiritually inmature.

But, one thing is sure, we are away /separate from Wahiguru, and our sole objective is to attract His Grace upon us, so we can sail this Mahabhavsagar, and safely reach our Nijh Ghar, Sach Khand, in the lap of our True Father, Satnam, Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Nanak, Naam jahaaz, jin chareeya se utareeya paar.

Sat Sree Akal.

Biologically nothing can last forever. Even the 2nd law of thermodynamics dictates that everything 'material' eventually decays and breaks down. Even if the human mind is transferred between bodies or placed in a machine, eventually given enough time something will go wrong to make death (an end) inevitable. As a biological machine most scientists believe that the human body does have a finite lifespan, no matter how many diseases/ailments they fix the body has an inbuilt 'destiny' to die.

It is not only ageing which brings death.

Can the science avoid earthquakes?

Can the science avoid air plane crash?

Can the science avoid maladies such as cancer?

Can the science avoid murders?

These are just a few questions to ask ourselves and see how petty and limited we humans are ....

We make use of His already creation, and with the manipulation over some the already existing elements, not created or made by us, we start thinking big, that we too can do something of our own.

If we just could not choose where to when to come, how can we have a free will for our departure or not?

The only way to stop the cycle of births and deaths, can be possible, not by our maanmat, but by using His technique, His science... which we have learnt from our Guru Sahibans, through Gurmat.

And that technique, is none other than his Simran.

Prabh ka Simran, garb na baseh.

Sat Sree Akal.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
