Sources Of Protein?

Are there other basic exercises you'd recommend for a beginner?

First thing (in your mind) break your body up into certain parts:

  • Shoulders
  • Arms (biceps and triceps)
  • Back
  • Core (abs and general mid-section)
  • Legs (quads = front of top leg, hamstrings = back of top of legs, calves)

I'd suggest a mixture of weights and body weight exercises at this stage.

After you've been training for a year, you can try some creatine, but get that year of training out first.

Doctors don't give out vitamins, supplements unless there is a deficiency.

Overload of vitamins is not good either. So only take them if needed and within the recommended daily intakes.

Best thing to do is to have a blood test to make sure you are not deficient in anything, then your doctor will advise accordingly.

Vitamin D and B12 are not normally tested within the full blood test, so one may have to request them.

Jkvlondon penji has some good alternatives.

These are just examples from the Internet, but your doctor may have publications for the public.

You have to be careful, some of the high protein foods are also high in carbs!

You have to be careful, some of the high protein foods are also high in carbs!

That's why it's important to get advise either from a dietician/nutritionist or a personal trainer if one is doing exercise.

It also depends on how much one is having, if it's in high amounts or whether it's balanced with other foods.

Vitamin supplements are not usually need as suggested above BUT MINERAL supplements are necessary.>>we lose out on minerals because of the stuff sprayed on veg and fruit>>>you know your fresh apple from grocery store has 22 different chemicals sprayed on it ??

>>problem is that nearly all multi mineral supplements come with vitamins. >>>so you wanna take a ggood look at mineral content and not worry about vits.

I used to eat a lot of broccoli as well and this is good source of protein>>>>>>>>the shakes should be limited and only used if you really pumping out or post heavy workouts. Or you could also use the new amino acid drinks for after workout to help with maintaining.

I've worked with a trainer for a few years >>that's why dopey me wannabe knows a thing or two

Seriously man>>>check out Protein content of BROCOLLI because it is super high >>>someone told a guy at gym it was more than steak.

the best bit is that it also has NO FAT but you will fart away most nights but feel good about it :)

I was asking this to know what is the best alternate from meat to get sources of Protein? Is it multivitamins, or real food, or some protein shakes and whatnot+

Raw spinach leaves (as part of a salad, uncooked), cottage cheese, and cucumber (believe it or not). These are easily available, and can be incorporated into a healthy desi diet with the minimum of fuss.

Oh, and porridge!! Then start pumping some loha like it's about to go out of fashion.

jacfsing, you never said if you had some small budget for some equipment?

There are a couple of things you can buy to keep you good at home.

I'm willing to buy simple equipment, (nothing over the top).

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
