How Badal Took Over Akal Takht?

Can anyone tell me how the Badal government took over the Akal Takht and sent massands to take it over especially since the last Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh was the one who was there before Badal? Also how'd the Massands stay in power so long without anyone stopping them until recently with the Sarbat Khalsa? (I know it's changed since Jagtar Singh Hawara became the official Jathedar.)

People thought that voting for Badal would bring good things to Punjab, and they would benefit from it. But now they will realise it was the wrong choice.

I think it's more a case of a particular segment of Sikh society voting (and continually voting) him in along economic and tribal lines (the free booze up is just an extra bonus to them in my opinion). These people don't care about anything wider than that.

We'll see what happens now. Complaints about Badal and his family aren't a new phenomena btw - yet despite decades of complaining, enough landowners are loyal to him to keep him in power.

Balkaar is right. This is simply a reflection of our own current corrupted, materialistic, casteist society. No outsider bogeymen are involved. This is 100% self-inflicted.

It's like my hubby warns me ...just because a guy wears a dastar don't gullibly believe he is like you i.e. a gursikh who puts their belief into action ... I agree with him I've seen too many hypocrites amritdhari guys going out with gorian and kalian before marrying nice girls which their folks line up for them . Now you have people going out for years and then marrying...bhekhi bibian who put on a good show of piety but are dabbling in bad juju to get ahead or exploiting their daughters-in-law even getting their to marry and divorce in quick succession to gain property and money.

Everyone needs to get themselves straight before expecting anyone else to be right ...and then tread carefully , expect to be let down ...

Yep the free booze, people fall for. That's one of the reasons they get addicted to alcohol. So to buy votes, what do they use? Alcohol, and why, because they know people are addicted to it, and will vote for them. They are not exactly going to give packages they can use for the home, because then people will actually start thinking without being drunk about which party they should vote for.

Yep 100% brought on by themselves because they are so used to it, they don't want change, even if for their benefit.

Don't you ever sense that the people putting on the biggest shows of piety are usually ones who are covering up some seriously dark instincts/natures? I think often they have sociopathic tendencies.

I've met so many guys from 'respectable' families who are drug/alcohol addicts and/or shagging anything that moves. Yet they still act like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths in front of 'sangat' who lap it all up.

Yes, its normally the wealthy ones or those in power that use this acting characteristic method.
