The gatra

The gatra can be adjusted but do you tuck the kirpan in the trousers ?

Its around 4 inches, how do singhs wear the kirpan to work when they tuck their shirts in.. it pops out for me

Waheguru ji ka khalsa

Waheguru ji ki fateh

There are a number of options -

Wear a small Kirpan

Wear a short length Gatra

Get a belt Gatra

Buy a Kirpan Belt Sheath holder

Don't tuck your shirt, go for Indonesian style shirts

Wear a safari suit

You can easily wear 6 inch kirpan with the shirt tucked in. if you have a regular gatra just wrap it around your waist and turn the kirpan to other side so that the pointed edge is facing forward. This helps to ensure that the trousers are not ripped by the kirpan edge. keep half the kirpan inside and half around your waist. I have been wearing it like this to work for over 20 years and never had any issues.

Gupt singh dont tuck the kirpan into your trousers (would be uncomfortable) other singhs have provided you with options available to you.

Does it accord the same right for amritdhari women to wear a dastar? Say if an amritdhari woman was being discriminated against at work for wearing a dastar, does this Act protect her right to wear it? Read the page where it defines a 'sikh!'

http://www.sikhanswers.com/sikh-articles-of-faith-identity/sikh-women-turban-dastaar/

Is this the paragraph you are referring to?

"It is more common for a man to wear a turban, and there is no restriction for women to cover their hair. "

From reading it, it doesn't state that a woman cannot wear a turban, as the paragraph above says "While it is not one of the Five Ks, wearing a turban is mandatory for an Amritdhari Sikh. It is decreed to be an integral part of the body and makes up part of the Sikh identity. "

If any Sikh female is facing or has had discrimination, then they should contact Sikh Council UK, if in UK, or their countries Representative body of Sikhs.
