News Alert: Gatka students attacked on Amritsar Gurdwara premises. Two held for hurting religious sentiments

Amritsar: The city police have booked two people for entering a Gurdwara, located in the Cheel Mandi area, and assaulting several children, who were practising Gatka on Gurdwara premises.

The police authorities said following the initial probe and medical examination of the suspects it was found that the accused were not drunk as claimed in the police complaint by Inderjit Singh of the Cheel Mandi area.

Among those booked include Honey and his brother Money, both residents of the Cheel Mandi area. While Honey was arrested by the police, Money was still at large, said Randhir Singh, additional SHO of the Kotwali police. A case under Sections 452, 323, 295-A and 34, IPC, was registered against the duo.

Inderjit had claimed that the accused were in inebriated condition and they were stopped from entering the Gurdwara complex. He stated to the police that a group of children were practising Gatka when the accused entered the Gurdwara. He alleged when children objected to it, the accused threw empty soda bottles at them, besides attacking them with iron rods. Sacrilege of the children's Dastars occurred during the incident.

Randhir Money escaped to Himachal Pradesh. He said police teams had been sent to arrest him.

Where was the ustad of the Gatka students ? How old were these students ? Maybe they will now learn that the "dance India dance" circus baazigars moves they are learning are not actually a useful martial art they can defend themselves with.

It says they were children. This is warped thinking to blame the kids and not the attacking thugs. On the other hand we have not seen our ' warriors' come out and defend the Sikhs or prevent beadbi. They had to be shamed into making an appearance and the then siftly dissappeared . Ordinary Sikhs showed bravery to face police bullets with their faith as the only protection.

Whatever the motive to let 2 non-sikhs in the Sikh holy city of amristar get away with any contempt for Sikhs is asking for trouble.

As for gatka it should be in the circus, singhs either need to learn and teach the youth how to fight in urban modern warefare settings and modern shaatsters or go home and stop doing baazthi of Sikhi

They need to reinstate the concept of having armed guards or sarabhas looking after Gurdwaras.

It's becoming easy for undesirables to walk into Gurdwaras and carry out beadbis and assaults.

We've become easy targets.

Gurdwaras used to be patrolled and policed by shastardhari Singh's in previous times this needs to be bought back.
