Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.

There is but One God, By the True Guru's grace, He is obtained.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਨ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

अंतरि वसै न बाहरि जाइ ॥

Anṯar vasai na bāhar jā▫e.

The Lord abidest within the mind. Wander thou not abroad.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥੧॥

अम्रितु छोडि काहे बिखु खाइ ॥१॥

Amriṯ cẖẖod kāhe bikẖ kẖā▫e. ||1||

Forsaking Nectar, why eatest thou poison?

ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥

ऐसा गिआनु जपहु मन मेरे ॥

Aisā gi▫ān japahu man mere.

Embrace such gnosis, O my soul,

ਹੋਵਹੁ ਚਾਕਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

होवहु चाकर साचे केरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Hovhu cẖākar sācẖe kere. ||1|| rahā▫o.

that thou mayest become the True Lord's slave. Pause.

ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਰਵੈ ॥

गिआनु धिआनु सभु कोई रवै ॥

Gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān sabẖ ko▫ī ravai.

Every one speaks of gnosis and meditation,

ਬਾਂਧਨਿ ਬਾਂਧਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਵੈ ॥੨॥

बांधनि बांधिआ सभु जगु भवै ॥२॥

Bāʼnḏẖan bāʼnḏẖi▫ā sabẖ jag bẖavai. ||2||

but bound with the bonds, the whole world wanders about.

ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਚਾਕਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

सेवा करे सु चाकरु होइ ॥

Sevā kare so cẖākar ho▫e.

He, who performs the Lord's service, becomes a servant of His.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥

जलि थलि महीअलि रवि रहिआ सोइ ॥३॥

Jal thal mahī▫al rav rahi▫ā so▫e. ||3||

He the Lord is pervading the water, dry land and firmament.

ਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

हम नही चंगे बुरा नही कोइ ॥

Ham nahī cẖange burā nahī ko▫e.

I am not good and no one is bad.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੨॥

प्रणवति नानकु तारे सोइ ॥४॥१॥२॥

Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ṯāre so▫e. ||4||1||2||

Meeting with a pious person, have thou some conversation with him.

ਮਿਲੈ ਅਸੰਤੁ ਮਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੧॥

मिलै असंतु मसटि करि रहीऐ ॥१॥

Milai asanṯ masat kar rahī▫ai. ||1||

But meeting with an impious person, remain thou mum.

Thank you Ji Harsharan paji. Whenever my profile status changes, I try to post Gurbani or a shabad relating to it. (If I can remember lol) Thus there are shabads that may not follow the topics, as those are for previous status'.

Bani: Raag Sorath, Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਹਾ

Naanak Raam Naam Nisathaaraa Sabadh Rathae Har Paahaa

नानक राम नामि निसतारा सबदि रते हरि पाहा

O Nanak, through the Lord's Name, one is emancipated; attuned to the Shabad, he finds the Lord.

In this line above, Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj, is telling us, if you want to get freed from the cycle of births and deaths, and meet the Lord, just get attuned to the Shabad.

Now we may ask, how to get attuned to the Shabad within?

The answer is, Naam Simran.

Our Guru Sahibans, in each ang of the Bani, have blessed us with their Daya Meher, by constantly reminding us, that if one is a sikh and wants to get reunited with Him, there is only one way, and that is of Shabad Guru, of Naam, through its Simran alone.

ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਪਜੇ ਭਾਈ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ

Naamai Thae Sabh Oopajae Bhaaee Naae Visariai Mar Jaae

नामै ते सभि ऊपजे भाई नाइ विसरिऐ मरि जाइ

From the Naam, everyone originated, O Siblings of Destiny; forgetting the Naam, they die away.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ

Har Kaa Naam Sachaa Man Vasiaa Naamae Naam Samaaeae

हरि का नामु सचा मनि वसिआ नामे नामि समाए

The True Name of the Lord comes to abide in the mind, and through the Name, one merges in the Name.

Raag Sorath Guru Amar Das

In the first line above, Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj, tells us, that Wahiguru, Naam or Shabad is the same thing, and that everything was created by this Naam.

All the Khands, the Brahmands, the material or subtle universes upon universes, gods, devis, devtas, all species of life forms ...absolutely everything was created by Naam alone.

Then is the second line, He is telling us, that this Naam, is achieved only, by meditating upon it, and then it is this very Naam, which makes us merge in it.

So wonderful, so beautiful no?

Through Naam, we merge in Naam, and become one with Naam.

After going through these words full of wisdom of our Guru Sahib Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj, one feels, that pitifully, the whole world is blind and ignorant, by getting entangled in manmat, through so many other diversified activities, rituals, etc....

The Bani of our Guru Sahibans, is very clear, in terms of what is True Bhakti, it is we manmukhs, who turn our faces, and do not want even to hear such truths...

Everything depends on us, if we follow Gurmat as it is in essence, we shall become one with Wahiguru.

If not, we shall wander in the cycle of births and deaths...Then too, we think we are wise, and we proudly say, we are His devotees ....

Sabḏe hī nā▫o ūpjai sabḏe mel milā▫i▫ā.

By Guru's instruction, the Name wells up in the mind and by Guru's instruction, the mortal is united in the Lord's union.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

बिनु सबदै सभु जगु बउराना बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥

Bin sabḏai sabẖ jag ba▫urānā birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā.

Without the Name, the entire world is insane and loses its life in vain.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

अम्रितु एको सबदु है नानक गुरमुखि पाइआ ॥२॥

Amriṯ eko sabaḏ hai Nānak gurmukẖ pā▫i▫ā. ||2||

Nanak, the Name alone is the Nectar and, through the Guru, is it obtained.

Sarab Rog Kaa Aukhad Naam

ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਅਉਖਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

सरब रोग का अउखदु नामु ॥

Sarab rog kā a▫ukẖaḏ nām.

Lord's Name is the panacea of all the ills.

ਕਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਮ ॥

कलिआण रूप मंगल गुण गाम ॥

Kali▫āṇ rūp mangal guṇ gām.

Singing of Lord's praise is the embodiment of beatitude and salvation.

ਕਾਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਧਰਮਿ ॥

काहू जुगति कितै न पाईऐ धरमि ॥

Kāhū jugaṯ kiṯai na pā▫ī▫ai ḏẖaram.

By no other way or any religiosity can God's Name be gained.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ॥੫॥

नानक तिसु मिलै जिसु लिखिआ धुरि करमि ॥५॥

Nānak ṯis milai jis likẖi▫ā ḏẖur karam. ||5||

Nanak he alone obtains it in whose destiny it is so writ since the very beginning.

ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥

जिस कै मनि पारब्रहम का निवासु ॥

Jis kai man pārbarahm kā nivās.

He, within whose mind the Supreme Lord has acquired dwelling,

ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਵ ਮਰਹਗੇ ਕੈਸਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

किआ जाणा किव मरहगे कैसा मरणा होइ ॥

Ki▫ā jāṇā kiv marhage kaisā marṇā ho▫e.

What do I know, how shall I die and, what sort of death shall it be?

ਜੇ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਹਿਲਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

जे करि साहिबु मनहु न वीसरै ता सहिला मरणा होइ ॥

Je kar sāhib manhu na vīsrai ṯā sahilā marṇā ho▫e.

If, within my mind, I forget not the Lord, then my death shall be easy.

ਮਰਣੈ ਤੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਡਰੈ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਲੋੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

मरणै ते जगतु डरै जीविआ लोड़ै सभु कोइ ॥

Marṇai ṯe jagaṯ darai jīvi▫ā loṛai sabẖ ko▫e.

The world is afraid of death and everyone long to live.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

गुर परसादी जीवतु मरै हुकमै बूझै सोइ ॥

Gur parsādī jīvaṯ marai hukmai būjẖai so▫e.

He alone, who by Guru's grace dies in life, understands Lord's will.

ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਦ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥

नानक ऐसी मरनी जो मरै ता सद जीवणु होइ ॥२॥

Nānak aisī marnī jo marai ṯā saḏ jīvaṇ ho▫e. ||2||

Nanak, if man dies such a death then, he continues to live for ever.

ਕਬੀਰ ਮੁਹਿ ਮਰਨੇ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ਹੈ ਮਰਉ ਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰ ॥

कबीर मुहि मरने का चाउ है मरउ त हरि कै दुआर ॥

Kabir muhi marne kā cẖā▫o hai mara▫o ṯa har kai ḏu▫ār.

Kabir, I long to die, however, when I die, then, let it be at the Lord's door.

Labh Lobh Ahankaar Thaj Thrishnaa

ਚਾਲਾ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਭਗਤਾਹ ਕੇਰੀ ਬਿਖਮ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਣਾ ॥

चाला निराली भगताह केरी बिखम मारगि चलणा ॥

Cẖālā nirālī bẖagṯāh kerī bikẖam mārag cẖalṇā.

Peculiar is the way of life of the saints. They tread the difficult path.

ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਤਜਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ ॥

लबु लोभु अहंकारु तजि त्रिसना बहुतु नाही बोलणा ॥

Lab lobẖ ahaʼnkār ṯaj ṯarisnā bahuṯ nāhī bolṇā.

They renounce avarice, covetousness, pride and talk not much.

Upon the supreme importance of Naam Bhakti

Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj tells us in His Bani, Raag Sorath, something on the supreme importance of the devotion of Naam.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਅਵਰੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ

Naanak Naam N Chaethanee Agiaanee Andhhulae Avarae Karam Kamaahi

नानक नामु न चेतनी अगिआनी अंधुले अवरे करम कमाहि

O Nanak, the blind, ignorant fools do not remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they involve themselves in other activities.

He says, they are fools, blind and moorakhs, those who do not meditate on the Naam, but proudly engage themselves in all other sort of activities and rituals as substitutes for this real bhakti.

Then He says:

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਚਾਹਿ

Jam Dhar Badhhae Maareeahi Fir Visattaa Maahi Pachaahi

जम दरि बधे मारीअहि फिरि विसटा माहि पचाहि

They are bound and gagged at the door of the Messenger of Death; they are punished, and in the end, they rot away in manure.

This means, these stupid manmukhs, are severly punished by the messengers of Kal / death, for wasting away the present blessed opprtunity by Wahiguru on us, for the only purpose of devoting ourselves at His Lotus feet, through Gurmat, which is :

Ik Oankar, Satgur Parsad, Jap.

There is only one Lord, who is realized and met by His Simran/Jap.

ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਰੇ ॥

बाणी गुरू गुरू है बाणी विचि बाणी अम्रितु सारे ॥

Baṇī gurū gurū hai baṇī vicẖ baṇī amriṯ sāre.

Gurbani is the embodiment of the Guru and the Guru is the embodiment of Gurbani. In the whole of Gurbani is contained the Nectar.

ਗੁਰੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਹੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੫॥

गुरु बाणी कहै सेवकु जनु मानै परतखि गुरू निसतारे ॥५॥

Gur baṇī kahai sevak jan mānai parṯakẖ gurū nisṯāre. ||5||

If the attendant acts up to what Gurbani enjoys, the Guru in person(verily) saves him.

First of all penji kaurp, we are all lucky people, including yourself, Guruji has given the precious and priceless Gurbani to reflect on.

I would not class myself, as a person as great, as I am a sinner. Each soul has their share of Sukh and Dukh, it's not easy.

For some people it's easier for some it would be more difficult, depending on what I've mentioned below.

It hard fighting against the five thieves of Kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, ahankaar. Every soul has different karm, different levels of mental strength according to the situations they are in, different levels of spirituality, and different perceptions of how to deal with distractions of the world.

If one is able to change their situations, then through own decisions and choices where it is possible only, but we do not have complete free will, therefore every soul should be aiming to live within God's will, Hukam, we can only try to live within their Hukam.

I will say, people are able to share advice but nobody can show you the way apart from Waheguru, God. And for that, you should turn to them for guidance. It is Waheguru that graces one to deal with distractions of the world.

Guruji tells us :

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਤ ਇਕ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥

सहस सिआणपा लख होहि त इक न चलै नालि ॥

Sahas si▫āṇpā lakẖ hohi ṯa ik na cẖalai nāl.

Man may possess thousands and lacs of wits, but not even one (goes with him) avails him in the Lord's court.

ਕਿਵ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਿਵ ਕੂੜੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਪਾਲਿ ॥

किव सचिआरा होईऐ किव कूड़ै तुटै पालि ॥

Kiv sacẖi▫ārā ho▫ī▫ai kiv kūrhai ṯutai pāl.

How can we be true and how can the screen of untruth be rent?

ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥

हुकमि रजाई चलणा नानक लिखिआ नालि ॥१॥

Hukam rajā▫ī cẖalṇā Nānak likẖi▫ā nāl. ||1||

O Nanak! By obeying, the pre-ordained order of the Lord's will.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਆਕਾਰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥

हुकमी होवनि आकार हुकमु न कहिआ जाई ॥

Hukmī hovan ākār hukam na kahi▫ā jā▫ī.

By the Lord's order bodies are produced. His order cannot be narrated.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਜੀਅ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

हुकमी होवनि जीअ हुकमि मिलै वडिआई ॥

Hukmī hovan jī▫a hukam milai vadi▫ā▫ī.

With His fiat the souls come into being and with His fiat greatness is obtained.

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਉਤਮੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ॥

हुकमी उतमु नीचु हुकमि लिखि दुख सुख पाईअहि ॥

Hukmī uṯam nīcẖ hukam likẖ ḏukẖ sukẖ pā▫ī▫ah.

By His command the mortals are make high and low and by His written command they obtain woe and weal.

ਇਕਨਾ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਇਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ॥

इकना हुकमी बखसीस इकि हुकमी सदा भवाईअहि ॥

Iknā hukmī bakẖsīs ik hukmī saḏā bẖavā▫ī▫ah.

Some obtain gifts through His order and some through His order are ever made to wander in transmigration.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹੁਕਮ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

हुकमै अंदरि सभु को बाहरि हुकम न कोइ ॥

Hukmai anḏar sabẖ ko bāhar hukam na ko▫e.

All are subject to His fiat and none is exempt from His fiat.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਜੇ ਬੁਝੈ ਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥

नानक हुकमै जे बुझै त हउमै कहै न कोइ ॥२॥

Nānak hukmai je bujẖai ṯa ha▫umai kahai na ko▫e. ||2||

O Nanak! if man were to understand Lord's fiat, then no one would take pride (speak in ego).

below is a beautiful and a technically perfect answer, given by our Simran penjee, where she is telling us in just few words, that Wahiguru is the sole motor of everything. Do ardaas to Him with a sincere heart, He will clear your ways

I will say, people are able to share advice but nobody can show you the way apart from Waheguru,God.

And for that, you should turn to them for guidance.

It is Waheguru that graces one to deal with distractions of the world.

Then, my 2 cents to this your question above, with a quotation from the Bani, as there is hardly any other way....

Dhan Dhan Satguru Ram Das Maharaj is telling us in His paavan paviter Bani in Raag Bilaval, in just two verses,how to deal with the difficulties you mention:

ਧੀਆ ਪੂਤ ਛੋਡਿ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਮਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰਈਆ

Dhheeaa Pooth Shhodd Sanniaasee Aasaa Aas Man Bahuth Kareeaa

धीआ पूत छोडि संनिआसी आसा आस मनि बहुतु करईआ

The Sannyaasi renounces his daughters and sons, but his mind still conjures up all sorts of hopes and desires.

ਆਸਾ ਆਸ ਕਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਸੁਖੁ ਲਹੀਆ

Aasaa Aas Karai Nehee Boojhai Gur Kai Sabadh Niraas Sukh Leheeaa

आसा आस करै नही बूझै गुर कै सबदि निरास सुखु लहीआ

With these hopes and desires, he still does not understand, that only through the Word of the Guru's Shabad does one become free of desires, and find peace.

Here above, Guru Jee is telling us, that one does not need to become a sanyasi, or run away from the world, in order to dedicate ourselves in His devotion.

Rather He is saying, while living a household life, and fulfilling one´s duties, responsibilities, one has to take out some time from the 24 hours of a day, and dedicate it in His Simran, as He is the unlimited fountain of peace, bliss and Truth.

There is a saying which goes like this: as you meditate upon, so you become.

This means, if we meditate on Him alone, we shall profit ourselves with His virtues mentioned above. Not only that, but something much much more fascinating...something which is beyond any expression...which is, by doing so, we merge and become one with Him.

That is why the Bani says:

Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya.

Waheguru, Sat Sree Akal.

Bhairao, Fifth Mehl:

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਛੋਡੀ ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ॥

Parathme cẖẖodī parā▫ī ninḏā.

First, I gave up slandering others.

ਉਤਰਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਦਾ ॥

Uṯar ga▫ī sabẖ man kī cẖinḏā.

All the anxiety of my mind was dispelled.

ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਦੂਰਿ ॥

Lobẖ moh sabẖ kīno ḏūr.

Greed and attachment were totally banished.

I see God ever-present, close at hand; I have become a great devotee. ||1||

I have forsaken my egotistical intellect.

The love of sexual desire and anger has vanished.

ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥

Nām ḏẖi▫ā▫e har har hare.

I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਸਤਰੇ ॥੨॥

Sāḏẖ janā kai sang nisṯare. ||2||

In the Company of the Holy, I am emancipated. ||2||

ਬੈਰੀ ਮੀਤ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਮਾਨ ॥

Bairī mīṯ ho▫e sammān.

Enemy and friend are all the same to me.

ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥

Sarab mėh pūran bẖagvān.

The Perfect Lord God is permeating all.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

Parabẖ kī āgi▫ā mān sukẖ pā▫i▫ā.

Accepting the Will of God, I have found peace.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

Gur pūrai har nām driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā. ||3||

The Perfect Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord within me. ||3||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਆਪਿ ॥

Kar kirpā jis rākẖai āp.

That person, whom the Lord, in His Mercy, saves -

ਸੋਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਜਪੈ ਨਾਮ ਜਾਪ ॥

So▫ī bẖagaṯ japai nām jāp.

that devotee chants and meditates on the Naam.

ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਲਈ ॥

Man pargās gur ṯe maṯ la▫ī.

That person, whose mind is illumined, and who obtains understanding through the

Guru-

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਈ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੪੦॥

Kaho Nānak ṯā kī pūrī pa▫ī. ||4||27||40||

says Nanak, he is totally fulfilled. ||4||27||40||

There is no peace in watching dances and plays.

ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਸ ਕਮਾਏ ॥

Sukẖ nāhī baho ḏes kamā▫e.

There is no peace in conquering lots of countries.

ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥

Sarab sukẖā har har guṇ gā▫e. ||1||

All peace comes from singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਲਹਹੁ ॥

Sūkẖ sahj ānanḏ lahhu.

You shall obtain peace, poise and bliss,

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Sāḏẖsangaṯ pā▫ī▫ai vadbẖāgī gurmukẖ har har nām kahhu. ||1|| rahā▫o.

when you find the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, by great good fortune. As

Gurmukh, utter the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||

ਬੰਧਨ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ॥

Banḏẖan māṯ piṯā suṯ baniṯā.

Mother, father, children and spouse - all place the mortal in bondage.

ਬੰਧਨ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਹਉ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

Banḏẖan karam ḏẖaram ha▫o karṯā.

Religious rituals and actions done in ego place the mortal in bondage.

ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥

Banḏẖan kātanhār man vasai.

If the Lord, the Shatterer of bonds, abides in the mind,

ਤਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਬਸੈ ॥੨॥

Ŧa▫o sukẖ pāvai nij gẖar basai. ||2||

then peace is obtained, dwelling in the home of the self deep within. ||2||

ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ॥

Sabẖ jācẖik parabẖ ḏevanhār.

Everyone is a beggar; God is the Great Giver.

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

Guṇ niḏẖān be▫anṯ apār.

The Treasure of Virtue is the Infinite, Endless Lord.

Jis no karam kare parabẖ apnā.

That person, unto whom God grants His Mercy -

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਜਨਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੩॥

Har har nām ṯinai jan japnā. ||3||

that humble being chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

Gur apne āgai arḏās.

I offer my prayer to my Guru.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਿ ॥

Kar kirpā purakẖ guṇṯās.

O Primal Lord God, Treasure of Virtue, please bless me with Your Grace.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥

Kaho Nānak ṯumrī sarṇā▫ī.

Says Nanak, I have come to Your Sanctuary.

Swaasa dee poonjee

All of us are born with our capital of life in the form of swaasas.

This is the most precious or valuable thing which is really ours ...... At our last moments, no amount of any millions of dollars or pounds can get us back eve a single swaas..

So, according to the Bani, if our swaasas are such precious, but even then, if with this bhandaar of wealth, we do not invest it rightly, we shall become loosers.

So, what is it to invest it correctly to gain real profit out of it?

ਸਾਸੁ ਸਾਸੁ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੋ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਾਸੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੇ

Saas Saas Jaae Naamai Bin So Birathhaa Saas Bikaarae

सासु सासु जाइ नामै बिनु सो बिरथा सासु बिकारे

Each and every breath which escapes me without the Naam - that breath is useless and corrupt.

Guru Jee, in the line above, is telling us, that if we do not repeat His Naam with each inhalation and exhalation, then, that swaas, that breath, is useless and lost.

On the other hand, if we do His Chintan with each and every breath, we are sowing our seeds in Sach Khand, which will make us go there and have the Fruit of His Darshan, not only that, but with this His devotion, He blends us with Himself.

We all know, we come into this world in the human form for only one purpose, which is to get freedom from this mayvee creation, and merge our surtee in Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

But how to achieve this noble goal?

People think that by worshipping this or that deity can be done; others think maybe by rituals, by pilgrimages, going into the jungles, or in the forests, others by torturing their lives, by doing poojas, paaths, fastings, then, some even give up their precious lives...and the list could be endless of all types of answers found, as many as people, we may meet from different walks ...

But Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj, gives us only one answer, in simple plain words, in His paavan paviter Bani, in Raag Sorath.

Which goes as in the following verse:

ਕੇਵਲ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਾਈ

Kaeval Raam Naam Man Vasiaa, Naamae Hee Mukath Paaee

केवल राम नामु मनि वसिआ नामे ही मुकति पाई

The Name of the Lord alone abides in their minds; through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they find liberation.

He clearly says, it is through Naam Simran, the Naam comes to abide in the mind, and then through this very Naam, one finds true liberation by merging in him ultimately.

There are quite a few foolish moorakh manmukhs out there, who get atonished, surprised, dissapointed, as per why so much stress is given on Naam

The thing is, no man can ever sing His praises, it is by His Grace alone, and through the Bani, that we come to know that all else is fanah, is koor...

Only Saacha Sahib Wahiguru, and His Saacha Nao, is the everlasting permanent Truth.

The Bani says: Ekas bin sabh dhandh hae.

So why waste our lives after shadows? Why not to go after that Akhand Jot, Naam?

The feet of the Saints are the boat, to cross over the world-ocean.


ਮਾਰਗਪਾਏਉਦਿਆਨਮਹਿਗੁਰਿਦਸੇਭੇਤ ॥੧॥

Mārag pā▫e uḏi▫ān mėh gur ḏase bẖeṯ. ||1||

In the wilderness, the Guru places them on the Path, and reveals the secrets of the Lord's Mystery. ||1||


ਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰੇਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਹੇਤ ॥

Har har har har har hare har har har heṯ.

O Lord, Har Har Har, Har Har Haray, Har Har Har, I love You.


ਊਠਤਬੈਠਤਸੋਵਤੇਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਚੇਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Ūṯẖaṯ baiṯẖaṯ sovṯe har har har cẖeṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.

While standing up, sitting down and sleeping, think of the Lord, Har Har Har. ||1||Pause||


ਪੰਚਚੋਰਆਗੈਭਗੇਜਬਸਾਧਸੰਗੇਤ ॥

Pancẖ cẖor āgai bẖage jab sāḏẖsangeṯ.

The five thieves run away, when one joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.


ਪੂੰਜੀਸਾਬਤੁਘਣੋਲਾਭੁਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਸੋਭਾਸੇਤ ॥੨॥

Pūnjī sābaṯ gẖaṇo lābẖ garihi sobẖā seṯ. ||2||

His investment is intact, and he earns great profits; his household is blessed with honor. ||2||


ਨਿਹਚਲਆਸਣੁਮਿਟੀਚਿੰਤਨਾਹੀਡੋਲੇਤ ॥

Nihcẖal āsaṇ mitī cẖinṯ nāhī doleṯ.

His position is unmoving and eternal, his anxiety is ended, and he wavers no more.


ਭਰਮੁਭੁਲਾਵਾਮਿਟਿਗਇਆਪ੍ਰਭਪੇਖਤਨੇਤ ॥੩॥

Bẖaram bẖulāvā mit ga▫i▫ā parabẖ pekẖaṯ neṯ. ||3||

His doubts and misgivings are dispelled, and he sees God everywhere. ||3||


ਗੁਣਗਭੀਰਗੁਨਨਾਇਕਾਗੁਣਕਹੀਅਹਿਕੇਤ ॥

Guṇ gabẖīr gun nā▫ikā guṇ kahī▫ahi keṯ.

The Virtues of our Virtuous Lord and Master are so profound; how many of His Glorious Virtues should I speak?


ਨਾਨਕਪਾਇਆਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਅੰਮ੍ਰੇਤ ॥੪॥੯॥੩੯॥

Nānak pā▫i▫ā sāḏẖsang har har amreṯ. ||4||9||39||

Nanak has obtained the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Company of the Holy. ||4||9||39||
