SUPREME IMPORTANCE OF NAAM OVER OTHER PRACTICES

Raag Ramkalee, Panchvee Patshahee Satguru Arjun Dev Maharaj

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਤਾਰਿ

Naam Binaa Ko Sakai N Thaar

नाम बिना को सकै न तारि

Without  Naam, no one can be carried across.

ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਨ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ

Sagal Oupaav N Chaalehi Sang

सगल उपाव न चालहि संगि

make any amount of other efforts, but none will go along with you.

In this couplet above from Raag Ramkalee of Dhan Dhan Satguru Arjun Dev Maharaj, He tells us that, only Naam is the vessel to ferry us across from this mayavee creation to our True Home in Sach Khand, and if we do not do its "kamaee", then no matter how many other tricks, efforts, rituals, we may perform, but, none of them shall be for us of any help, in returning back to our Nijh Ghar.

You see, these paviter words of the Bani above, are not mine, nor of any gyani, devi, devtay, but, of Wahiguru Akal Purukh Himself, when He was in the swaroop of Fifth Patshahee.

And His words are eternal Truth, are the exact and precise directions to be followed, for those who want Him only.

Others may talk big things, but nevertheless is manmukhta, which shall surely bind us by our necks in the chaurasee.

Poor jeevas.... doing not what Guru Jee tells us to do, but rather do, what the ignorant andhay manmukhs lead us to believe.

Is it that difficult to follow Guru jee´s Hukum?

That also, when out of His apaar kirpa, He simplifies for us, the path which has to be travelled in reaching Him, and thus He catching our arm by His powerful hand, and pulling us out from this nashvaant mayavee creation...

Sat Sree Akal.

Wahiguru Akal Purukh´s grace falls eqaully on each and every jeeva. He does no partiality like manmukhs, for all are His very own.

The awareness of His kirpa and Light, is more felt, when the lesser the layers on ourselves.

For example, if the windows of our houses are dirty, then no matter how much sunlight is there, our homes are filled with darkness.

Only when we start cleaning the dirt accumulated on the windows, the first sun ray comes in, and there is some light in the room, and the more we clean, more and more light comes in, and brighter our houses become.

In a similar way, the more bhakti we do, the more we cleanse the filth from our minds, and the the more we feel His love, His daya.

You see, the sunlight is always there, in equal measure for all, it is we who have turned our backs to Him, or have shut the windows of our homes and allowed the dirt being accumulated on the glasses of the windows.

Wahiguru is there and everywhere, it is we who have to cleanse throughly(Bhakti), in order to feel the warmth of His prem, and the Light of His consciousness, then we shall never ever walk in darkness and make mistakes(karam), rather walk towards Him, with full faith and devotion, and at the end of the day(our existence in maya), the individual Sun ray(jeev atma), merges and becomes the Sun itself.

Sat Sree Akal.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
