What is the purpose of any religion?

And in our case, about sikhee?

True religion is, the one which enables us to become one with Him.

Many get confused, as per which religion to accept and follow, as there are so many in this world, since its creation. Because religions are many, and all of them have something or the other to offer.

Most of them, offer as their highest goal, objectives as heaven, swarg, baikunth, dev lok...etc ...etc ....and engage us in outer rituals, karam kaand, dogmas and practices, thus we continue remaining in the wheel of eighty four, without any chances to escape ...

So, what does Sikhee offers us, or in what does it differ, in comparison to the rest of the paths? It also depends on us, what we want to achieve with Sikhee?

Because it can be that, pearls and diamonds (Wahiguru) are being offered, but, some due to manmat, refuse them, and go for stones or imitation jewelery(lesser entities or dieties).

But in any case, the goal or target in Sikhee, if followed faithfully, is the One Supreme Wahiguru.

Other dharams, base the success of acheiveing their goals, on a varied lesser devotion steps, such as jap, tap, poojas, paaths, pilgrimages, fastings, murtee poojas, flowers...

But, as said above, in Sikhee the goal is only one Wahiguru, the Light of all other lights, based on only one jugtee, one devotion, one True love, and that is nothing than, the Simran of His Naam.

Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj, in His paavan paviter Bani in Raag Basant, reveals us the secret, the essence of spirituality, and the base of any true religion, in just a line of 6 simple words only

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ

Bin Naamai Mukath Kinai N Paaee

बिनु नामै मुकति किनै न पाई

Without the Naam, no one obtains liberation.

He says: do whatever you may want, but if you do not hold the pallav of Naam(through its Simran), you shall drown in the painful cycle of unending lifes and deaths.

Guru Sahibans, Bhagat Jan, have gracefully placed before us, the Highest. It is now up to us, to be wise in choosing and accepting it, without the doubt as tiny as of the blinking of an eye.

God..How Should I Pray Your Way

Please Teach Me, Lord ...
I Want To Know Exactly How To Pray.

I Need Some Words
Which Ones Are Right?

Please Tell Me What To Say.

I've Bowed My Head
I Have Knelt Down,

But ...Should I Be Upright?

I've Closed My Eyes,

I've Bowed My Head<
I've Raised My Hands,

Or ...Should I Fold Them Tight?

Do I Stand Up?
Should I Sit Down?

Dear Lord ... What Do You Like?

Are Lights Turned On
Or Are They Off?

Maybe ...Candle Light?

Wear My Glasses?
Take Them Off?

Be At My Desk Or Table?

Should I Whisper?
Speak Out Loud?

Do I Quote The Bible?

What Do You Think About The Time?
Do You Prefer The Dawn?

Should I Pray Fast,
Or Keep It Slow?

Better Short ... Or Long?

I'm New At This

What Are The Rules?
I Want To Do It Right.

How Do I Know
You'll Even Hear

That I'm In Your Sight?

And While I Sat There Quietly
Waiting For Some Sign,
I Heard A Gentle Voice Say,

"Oh, Dearest Child Of Mine ...
Do You Think I Really Care
About The Time Of Day,
Or Whether You Are Standing Up,
Or Kneeling When You Pray?"

"I Don't Care About Your Posture,
Or About The Place You Choose;

Just Open Up Your Soul To Me,
I Have No Other Rules.

Tell Me What Is In Your Heart,
And Tell Me What You Seek;

Tell Me Of Your Sorrows,
And Of Those Things That Made You Weak."

"Speak To Me In Private
About What Concerns You Most

My Child, You Don't Need Lessons,
Just Talk To Me Each Day;

Tell Me Anything You Want, Dear Child,
Anyone Can Pray."

गुर मूरति करि धिआन सदा हजूर है ।

Concentrate upon the Guru-word considering it as the figure of the Guru who is always with you.

I don't understand the need for such post. The Guru says come and sing the song of bliss with me( Gurbani). Sing Gurbani and not your own words as the above "dialogue with God" suggest. Why go out of your home searching and finding the wrong advice? In your home (Sikhi) the Guru has instructed the student correctly. I guess everyone wants some spice in life....Gurbani get bland at times......

I don't think they are Harsharan jis own words. I've seen this composition before too.

I don't see nothing wrong with it. But I guess some like to pick point and complain about anything. I think it's beautiful. There's are no insults or beadbi in it. It's a sift, compliment of God only.

You do realize that people add different words to Ardas all the time depending on what it's about

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
