Sangat Ji, I have had a lot of bad luck happen to me lately, car was stolen, credit cards were stolen, got fired from a job, warning in my current job. Not sure what prayers are can do, I am quite down, but hopeful for a better future.

What prayer should I do to change things around?

Remind urself that u got 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 eyes + that u can re-build from this low point.

Nothing can stop u if u believe in yourself + count your blessings compared to other peeps who suffer more.

Sorry to hear what's happened, as weird as this may sound, try to think of it as God may have saved u from something worse too.

Car was stolen - if it's insured you can put in a claim, could have been worse, you wasn't in the car.

Credit cards were stolen - put a block on them. They can be replaced. Any purchases can be stopped by the banks, maybe you were to do some unrequired spending which you would not have been able to afford later, other personal documents were not stolen.

Got fired from job - that's because you were going to get this job which you are in now.

Warning in current job - work on what you have to improve on in your job, or maybe God has something better lined up for you or it's not the right job.

The bad luck has come all together, but you have to learn to work through it now. Maybe have counselling to help your low mood.

Maybe it's time for some changes, only you know what they are.

Do ardas to Waheguru and say whatever you do is in your hands and to protect you.

Chaupai sahib ji Karo for protection. The best thing is to stay in Hukam.

What prayer should I do to change things around?

My friend take my advice on this. Do not confine Gurbani to certain attributes. Certain Gurbani does mention divine protection, and it shalll invoke it for you. But at the same time do not disregard the other pure words of our Lord for them. All Gurbani can give you protection, help, guidance. Rise at Amritvela. Sit down, open your Gotka and read Japji Sahib. But don't just read it, if you struggle to understand the complex Gurmukhi then have the translations with you. Ponder on what is being said, with your total concentration think of Gurbani, what is being said and try and connect to god.

Do not do Gurbani just to change you're luck. Do it to change you're life. Gurbani is so powerful our Karam, our Destiny is constantly changing on the pleasure of our Lord. Accept this as not misfortune but a blessing from Waheguru. He has helped you find him once again. Here in your misery an despair you turned to Gurbani. Now take advantage of it and even after you're luck turns (and I assure you it will turn if you do as much Patt as I can) keep doing you're patt. Don't use it as a temporary relief. Use it as a life requires water. Live it.

the best prayer is that, which reminds us of Him and makes us remain in His bhaana too, at all times.

Because only by staying in His bhaana, can we have peace of mind and bliss in heart.

And so, what is that , according to the Bani, it is His Simran.

His Simran, is like calling our Friend in our need. And by repeating His Name constantly with love and faith, He comes and abides within us.

Outwardly, in eyes of the world we may still appear to be paupers, but inwardly, due to His grace,we are one with Sachay Patshah.

That is His mahantaa, His wadeeayee.... Wah Wah Sachay Patshah, Oouch Apaar Beant Soami.

Take all of the above advice veerjee, but also...

I heard in a kathaa once that if we don't take out dasvand then we are generally vulnerable to theft, extra maintenance costs from natural occurrences and tax hits.

Maybe this statement will seem outlandish to some or a fairy tale to others but please try it for at least 4 or 5 months e.g. set up a saving account where you transfer 10% of your incomings as soon as you receive them and then empty the savings account into a worthy Sikhi cause such as Baru Sahib/Basics of Sikhi/Sikhs2inspire/khalsa aid/ensaaf/sikh prisoner welfare etc etc etc

Remember, three tenets of Sikhi, one of which is vand ke shaknaa - this in practical terms is dasvand. Other tenet is honest living or ethical living. Please review how are you applying this in your life as well.

The third is naam japna - in practical terms Nitnaym. Sikhs of old times use to have an extensive Nitnaym - much more than the standard 7 bania. Doing your nitnem is Maharaaj holding on to your arm. Lose your nitnaym and the grip could become loose as well.

However, SatGuroo is sada sada sada Dyaal.

Keep you head up and face your challenges head on. Its great that you've turned to the Sangat for help and not taken any other alternative advice which ultimately leads to a demise in some kind or other.
