The questions are:

Why did the Gurdwara commitee take the booking in the first place, when they know that this is violation of maryada.

Have they really cancelled the wedding ? Where is the proof ? Are they lying to play down the issue.

If the general sangat didn't find out, I.e: by the card being sent to people on the internet, the Gurdwara would have gone ahead with the wedding.

Outcome ? The committee of Sheperds bush Gurdwara are greedy and corrupt, only interested in generating money rather than satkar and maryada.

They should be reported to the main Sikh bodies and Sikh channels to ask the committee to explain their actions.

Not limited to Sheperds Bush. Alice Way Hounslow Gurdwara frequently holds interfaith marriages. These committees are consumed and blinded by Maya. The only time the Gurdwara fills aside from one or two Gurpurabs or a 'famous' Sant/Kirtani in attendance is during weddings. Apart from the Gurughar in South Shields (Newcastle), I cannot think of many others that are not being run like a business. Someone has to pay for the upkeep of these Grand White Elephants..LOL

How dare you ask such a silly question! They're all totally behind her. They don't want her to ruin her life by being stuck in a loveless, arranged marriage to someone of her cultural and religious background, because, as we all know, love marriages are totally not built on physical attraction, and the love between the two partners in such marriages never fades or wanes at all resulting in no divorces ever. It's a universal truth. And you're an extremist... a God-forsaken terrorist for attacking the beautiful couple on their special, magical day.

/sarcasm

Because arranged marriages between two from the same community are so succesful?

None the less, Im glad this was stopped. If you want to marry outside your religion, go get a court marriage. Hate these liberals trying to enforce their views on religios institutions.

Actually it is the Gurdwaras fault, they have a responsibility to ask the right questions especially with something as big as anand karaj bookings.

If they can't even ask simple questions like the name of the bride and groom, and fail to ensure that maryada is upheld, quiet simply they are incompetent and are not doing their jobs properly.

It's negligence and dereliction of duty by the commitee.

Personally I think they were aware of the grooms background and just tried to cash in on a wedding booking, after it back fired they're now trying to cover it up.

That's the point I was trying to make. Neither are guaranteed to work. But the manner in which people who endorse love marriages seem to behave is as if love unions are bulletproof and everlasting. They refuse to hear anything to the contrary in case it shatters their illusion on these matters.

It is no co-incidence that both Hounslow and the Central Gurdwara (which, btw hasn't been in 'Shepherds Bush' since the late 1960's despite the name) has committees heavily made up of urban Delhi-ite Sikhs. Hounslow, is by far, the worst. They might as well double up as an official Indian Consulate for West London.

The trouble here is that there's no come-back. There's nothing for the Gurdwaras to be afraid of. It works like this:

  1. They deliberately organise marriages of Sikh girls to non-Sikhs, including Muslims
  2. Then they wait and see if anything happens.
  3. If nobody notices, the wedding goes ahead.
  4. If Sikhs do start to notice, the Gurdwara simply call it off.
  5. And thats it.
  6. The end of the matter.
  7. No come-back. No punishment.
  8. And because there's no come-back they do it again when another family come to arrange a wedding date there.
  9. And then we start all over again from point #2 onwards.

Is it going ahead? What have we become when our Gurdwaras give the females of our community to them. purtaarn singhs would fight the honour of the other communites girls when the afghans / moguls would kidnapp them... Sorry any committee that does this needs a good hiding

A Polish Christian will have no agenda in converting the girl to gain paradise and have access to 72 virgins in the after life.

I

still not allowed in sikhi and sikh should only marry a sikh!

why the hell would this Gurdwara even consider doing this wedding? These people are outside of sikhi if they think this is ok and lets not even begin to talk about the girl and her family. this is worse then rss because our own people are selling us out

Each Gurdwara marriage bureau should have the Akaal Takht hukamnama regarding these types of marriages posted on their walls.

Other than the SGPC or Akal Takht, does there need to be some kind of body in the UK, a Gurdwara watchdog so to speak that monitors and audits each Gurdwara to ensure that they are not conducting any form of beadbi.

This body needs to be incorruptible and unbribable as much as possible. It would uninfiltratable as possible so that it cannot be subverted.

If a Gurdwara committee is found guilty then they should be fined because the only pain they feel is in the pocket. The committee members need to be named and shamed, blacklisted if needed. They must be accountable and it needs to be made public because the worst thing these crooks fear is being exposed.

This is evidence that Sikhi is dying in the west. The sorts of 'Sikh's' that are flourishing cannot be true Sikhs of Guru Gobind Singh.

Oh you poor souls. I pray that one day you wake up and realise your investment in misinterpreted 'terms and conditions' was founded in ignorance and self hate. If you all started to love yourselves just a tiny bit more, the hole you so desperately seek to fill within yourselves might start to shrink. When you realise that these two HUMAN BEINGS have united THROUGH God way before your ego started to feed your brains with opinions and beliefs, you will see that any attempt you have made to stop the ceremony was not only futile and of zero consequence, but actually aided in strengthening their DIVINE bond.

You spew your chastisement through an online blog - oh you brave warriors of God! The fact this girl wanted to carry out the Sikh ceremony should make it obvious to you that she is acting in TRUTH (it's obviously not a move to please other people). So then who are you to judge and condemn her? You quote scripture in order to justify yourselves, not realising that the scripture you quote SUPPORTS their marriage. You act like God can be offended by any decision we make here on Earth. Worse than that, you have the audacity to tell yourselves you are offended on behalf of God. I wonder how many of you have taken a second to be honest with yourselves about WHY this really makes you feel uncomfortable? Your spite toward Muslim people is so boldly evident it's laughable. One of you even started talking about the moguls, ha! Let go of your hate people. We were put here TOGETHER as one, Maybe some of you should stop sipping away on your Chivas Regal and acting like a bunch of barbarians - then perhaps 'your women' might actually want to marry you. If you want change so much, get off this blog and start changing yourselves. Those of you are angry at this wedding - it's YOU who are angry, YOU have nurtured that negative emotion within yourselves. None of the posts here come from a place of compassion or love for this girl whom you claim as your own. Be honest with yourselves - this stings you because he's Muslim and you harbour hate in your heart. What does your religion teach you about that? Get the hell up off your high horses and go find somebody to LOVE. True love IS God and doesn't need religious teaching to justify it. Stop living your lives through teachings and start FEELING with the short life you have been blessed with. I pray the couple enjoy every bit of happiness they deserve from this union. I pray they teach their children that ALL people who follow a religion are reaching out to GOD and should be respected for doing so.

    • Jesus said the same things to the Pharisees as Guru Nanak did to the Brahmins. Read this and you will find similarities in him telling the pharisees that they will suffer too, though he did not specify hell. e does talk about punishment, which we will assume in offered only in hell or on earth. It cannot be in heaven as he talks about them blocking the gates of heaven for others too. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+23&version=CEV

    • What're you talking about ??!!! In Bhai Gurdas ji's vaaran , it's clearly mentioned WaHeGuRu mantra is composed by uniting the names of god in 4 yugas. W - Wasudev (Satjug) H - Hari (Dwapar) G - Gobind (Kalyug) R - Raam (Treta) As per hindus , Parbrahm is the origin of all things  Hari means Krishna , and Krishna lived in Dwapar yug. But Krishna was named after Parbrahm , as Krishna means "attractor" , one of the names of brahm. Hindus slowly started equating Krishna to Hari.  Ramchandar is from treta, the son of Dasrath. Ram chandra means (moon of Raam) or that which reflects the character of Raam. So Raam was actually another name of Parbrahm.  Wasudev is from Satjug . Wasudev means "the residing lord". And Guru Gobind Singh ji maharaj is from Kalyug.  Go(earth / vedas/ knowledge) + bind (center focal point). So Gobind means "the focal point of knowledge".  So the mantar makes sense . And TBH , our current abrahamic kinda views of sikhi are far more superficial. We really need to chew in our understanding the baani properly. I agree we don't believe in hindu devi devte, but TBH karam , dharam philosophy is much older than sikhi . What was lost and found & something which was not earlier revealed is what we collectively call "sikh matt". It's purely our egos that we despise at anything "hindu" , whereas we ourselves believe in concepts like Karam philosophy, Rebirth, need of Guru , etc which were first found in upanishads (concluding portion of vedas).
