Can An Amritdhari Wed A Non Amritdhari?

Can an amritdhari girl wed a non amritdhari guy in anand karaj? The guys kesdhari, just hasnt decided to take amrit yet, wants to progress with rehat before committing to amrit. Both the girl and guy and their families are happy with it.

Any potential issues?

It's paap. Why doesn't he just take amrit if he's going to take it one day anyways?

Its extreme to call it paap, no? How exactly is it paap? Maybe he doesnt feel ready. He cant be rushed.

Ideally theyd both be amritdhari or gursikh but if one of the two arent currently amritdhari but would consider taking amrit soon, then i dont see anything wrong with it. If the couple are compatible spiritually, and happy to go ahead with it, then its fine. Maybe after marriage, the wife may be able to help her husband achieve this goal.

There is the issue of jooth (contamination? Hard to translate). And no physical relations until both are amritdhari....that's why the panj usually don't let a married person take amrit without the other spouse

If it's not a paap, it's a punya. && This is against Sri Guru Sahib ji's will. Why is she even going to get married in the Gurdwara with another so called Sikh when he can't even take Amrit even though he does everything he's supposed to apparently??

Amrit is his personal choice. Would you rather he take it when he isnt ready and then go back on it? The guy should not be forced or pressured into anything. When the times right, it'll happen

Life was so much simpler as a child. Good and evil, black and white. Since shades of grey have emerged things have turned a bit confusing. As children we are told (or at least it's implied) that the man with the flowing beard and splendidly regal dastaar is a person of high character; he is the best of us because he follows the orders of his Guru... on the surface at least. He is to be emulated and revered; he can do no wrong. Then we get a bit older and we see the veil begins to slip ever so slightly. The standard-bearer, the "ideal" man of God is anything but. When the pub-going white atheist - who you previously considered a waste of life - shows you more compassion and friendship than the so-called soldier of God, it really messes with your head and you realise nothing is as plain and basic as you've been lead to believe. If Guru Sahib is dyaal, then you don't fall off the wagon and look for a reason to abandon Him, because you realise he shouldn't be held responsible for the degeneracy of Man. If, however, your faith is built on brittle foundations and false assumptions, then the very thing you should embrace is the thing you turn your back on and begin to mistrust. But nobody, not any giani, parcharak, or sant tells us this, because it is to their advantage if they keep us ignorant and obedient. Better to increase the numbers if there aren't extraneous, grey-hued variables that could confuse us, you see.

I am so very joyful that my Guru has none of the despicable attributes of Man. Anyone that tries to convince us otherwise should be looked on with suspicion and hostility.

Saying that, there are rules to be followed else there's be chaos. If the Singh in question hasn't taken Amrit, then delay the marriage. If it's meant to be it will be. If not, then so be it. But such forethought and patience is very rare for our community, lol, coupled with the standard public perceptions which must be maintained (not) and not wishing to become subjects of gossip! I wonder how many just and good acts have been discarded due to worries stemming from what others will say or think?

Its not a rule written on a stone that amritdhari cannot wed non amritdhari (if they are not ready yet) exceptions are made on case by case basis. All these rigid rules came with tat khalsa reformist movement. I have listened to recording divan of sant waryam singh ratwara sahib clearly mentioned few years ago(i will try to find that divan) it wasn't that extreme in the past couples were asked if they were both ready if singh alone said he was ready and quesiton was asked to singhani- if she was ready. if she responded-she wasn't ready for amrit- then simple discourse was given by panj pyares to bibi to be sehajdhari-japji sahib nitnem/basic rehit and full amrit was given to singh alone.

It is good if both are on the same path, because it will definetey be source of inspiration and help, when one is likely to be down at sometimes, as we humans are weak by nature.

But the thing is, we get married due to our adjustment of karmic accounts of previous lives, which we have to settle with each other, as well as with anyone at family, work, or any other sphere in this "karam bhoomee" creation.

We are blessed by Akal Purukh, to be loving and kind towards our life partners, so that karmas can be setteled in a smooth way without any discomfort or disturbance, and at the same time, engage our selves in His Bhakti, in oredr to fulfill the purpose of our human birth, by becoming one with Him, by means of His devotion alone.

We can not remain idle, our karmas push us to be in continous motion, but it is His devotion and Grace, which is individual, and necessary for our spiritual developement, in order to become pure, paviter enough to merge in Him, that´s it.

We should be balanced and be broad minded in our lives, with the tools of truthfuness humility, love, kindness and compasion, which are the qualities required by us to be true sikhs of Guru Jee.

Each one of us has come alone, and has to go alone, it is wrong to think that we shall go to gather there in His Darbar, or find our relatives, parents, siblings...etc.

Each one of us. is like a drop of the Ocean, which once falls into the Ocean, looses it´s own mayavee limited false identity as an individual, to become in reality one with Ocean.... And once in the Ocean, who can trace those individual drops some time ago....
