Keeping Rehat At University

i am moving out to the university of birmigham (hopefully) at the end of this year and i was wondering how hard it is to keep rehat while living in halls with house mates you do not get to choose. eg. being a vegiarian and not drinking etc. how does impact on living at university

Also is it hard to fit in when u dont participate in things like clubbing and going out to pubs. how do u survive freshers week?

has anyone been in the same situation situation. i would apriciate any advice.

Bro I kept really strict rehit at uni and didn't do much because of it. I regret my uni years as I spent too much of my time searching sikhi and doing simran. Enjoy uni life get out there go clubing, chat some chicks up lol, throw some shapes on the dance floor... its fun. Do simran as well not saying to remain gupt. You got to enjoy life..

I have argued with hsingh68 many times in the past and I advise you not to fall into an argument with him. It will make you go insane.

Hsingh68 used to be an amritdhari, panj pyara rehitvan Singh until he got sick of it and became a Mona. He finds that it was a waste of his time etc.

One needs to be seriously honest with themselves, if one truly feels in experience worldly things are illusion and feel nirlaip like lotus in muddy water then in my opinion go for it -don't hold back- mingle with outside crowd which does not have same interest as you but if you are type of person who are quite driven by outside five senses(engage in it, fail to witness them ignore them) than i suggest you avoid it keep engaging in more sangat, gurbani vichar with effort until vichar becomes effortless and you are automatically drawn towards vichar, bairaag regardless of outside situation then at that point, outside places or worldy influences will lose its power grip on you.

its not hard at all. Many before you have done it

plus your going to bham uni, youll meet plenty of singhs. Worry not!

Youll find sikhs arent the only ones who dont drink or r veggies lol. Its a personal choice many make. Has very little impact on anything.

Stick with the right crowds and youl enjoy uni whilst keeping rehat. I made plenty of friends, there wasnt a single singh on my course and iv never been clubbing or pubs or none of that.

be confident in yourself. Enjoy life as HSingh said. You're a Singh. You're an ambassador of our nation. Dont be seen in places we dont belong to. Dont be doing things we shouldnt. Uni is a time where you either stay on your tracks or go way off. Concentrate on your studies. Make friends. Join a few societies. Boom! Fun all round
