Honestly haryana Sikhs are doing well to support Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Ji, its US on social media and in punjab that are lacking, sure we see the posts and the pages but its not like before in 2013 on social media, How can we bring this participation up? What do you guys want to do about punjab? One thing that comes to mind is calling Gurudwaras and asking for their support in punjab, if need be we can exclude SGPC gurudwaras... What do you guys think?

You are right. But don't let this stop each one of us from pushing forward the message in even our own little ways. We don't have to measure outcomes or wait to see if someone in the media picked it up. We can get the message out in small ways. Most social justice causes start with an uphill climb that does not get the attention it deserves and over time becomes a tidal wave.

We have become accustomed to things "going viral" overnight. If that is meant to happen, it will happen. It may happen tomorrow or something a handful of people do today may change the course of history and manifest itself a decade or two later.

Our duty as Sikhs is to speak for humanity with poise and courage. Victory is daily living, not an endpoint. We are not about metrics. Our path is our destination. Lets each move even in small ways on the path.

Never saw such lack of response by our community second time. Nobody is talking about this issue as compared to last time. Maybe this is because punjab govt is not under pressure as this is not happening within punjab state boundry.

Yeah its probably just to save their face, proably because they are under pressure, but atleast their is some response, hopefully this spurs more support in Punjab..

ANANDPUR SAHIB (December 2, 2014)—In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the SGPC President has sought the release of Sikh detainees who have completed their imprisonment terms, but are still imprisoned. Avtar Makkar stated that the SGPC is trying its best to seek the release of detainees, and that the matter is waiting in the hands of the Centre Government.

Makkar made the disclosure yesterday when he was at Anandpur Sahib. The SGPC President was asked by members of the press why the apex Sikh body was not doing anything for the release of Sikh prisoners, while Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa was again on hunger strike.

SGPC President stated that he had high hopes that the Centre Government would release Sikh prisoners soon.

Makkar was consistently asked about the hunger strike of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa. In response to a question, he said that the “hunger strike of Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh is his personal decision, but SGPC has always remained serious about Sikh issues.”

It would have a much bigger impact if family members also peacefully protested or went on hunger strike, but they don't seem to be concerned.

The family members for the most part, are not in any condition to go on hunger strikes like that... Remember their Bread-winners have been in jail for so long. They HAVE given support to Khalsa Ji, I'm pretty sure one stated that if Khalsa Ji could get even 18 minutes of freedom it would be worth it.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
