Shastar Puja

Recommended Posts

Bansavalinama written in 1769 CE by Kesar Singh Chibber also mentions the celebrating of Dusshera. Kesar Singh Ji writes:

On the days of Dusshera, worship your weapons. From your mouths you should recite the ballads of Chandi [Chandi Chritars and Chandi Di Vaar].

[Worship your weapons by using] lots of Incense, Gee-lamps, flowers and nice fragrances. [use] Saffron, Sandalwood and a Wisk to wave [above your weapons].

I salute the Glorious SWORD with all my heart’s affection.
- Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji

I also read the same, and that it has been a maryada, for sure among Puratan Singhs.

I salute the arrow and the gun, I salute the lustrous sword, which Is impenetratable and indestructible.

I salute the great mace and lance, which have no equal or second in bravery.88.
- Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji

Salutation to Him, who hath the arrows and the cannon, who hath destroyed the enemies.

Salutation to Him, Who holds the straight sword and the bayonet, Who hath reporimanded the tyrants.90.

I salute all the weapons of various names.

I salute all kinds of armour.91.
- Sri Dasam Granth Sahib ji

Veer ji, so as Sikhs, taking the Sri dasam Granth into account and also the shiri Guru Granth Sahib ji, we should hold respect for Durga mata and the other pantheon of gods right? Would you say the chandi di // are in praise of Durga mata or in prayer to Durga mate?
