Bad Spirits, Demons, Negativity, Ghosts

Are these things scared of water? If so, why?

And of a God's name? Would paat be too much to handle for them?

I'm not too sure about water but you should try and have the inner confidence that your spiritual vibration is higher.

The easiest way to raise this is by waheguru simran from the heart.

I wouldn't say that they are scared of god's name as if it's an antidote, because God does still love all, although they are lost to their own desires and have no longing to go towards him.

But If something extreme like a naughty poltergeist, evil intended spirit is present and making itself known, then you need to just make aware that your intention is towards waheguru only and you should try to ignore it completely.

Once a person devotes to waheguru and feels the longing love to be towards him, then they become kind of protected and untouchable by these poot and prets.

If you have negtive intentions and a negative aura caused by negative attitudes, negative ideas..etc... the you are more likely to be influenced and affected by negative spirits.

Whereas, if you have more positive attributes and strong willed positive attitudes, then you shall be much less affected.

When we go to the gurdwara we eat the gurus prashaad which is a sweet food representing the sweetness of the gurus and Akal purakhs blessing on you, we then eat langar. Both food items have undergone the "bhogh" meaning that they are blessed food items which one should not refuse or waste. When preparing these food items one japs Naam, "Satnam waheguru", "Satnam waheguru", "Satnam waheguru" continuously evoking the blessing of Akal Purakh forward into that food.

In the same way, when water has Naam and Paath evoked into it, the Naam and Paath once consumed by the person acts as a spiritual medication for the soul of the person being tormented by spiritual issues. In many instances, people are unable to do or listen to Paath physically, hence why drinking amrit enables the soul to still have blessings of Naam.

It's like how Shiri Guru Gobind Singh initiated the khalsa panth with amrit, sweetened water which has had Paath read to it through its matter which once consumed clears that soul and if the rehat is followed, that soul achieves mukhti. Why would guru sahib do this if there was simply not point as we as sikhs do not believe in mere ritual?

In the Rehras Sahib, in Mundavnee mohalla 5, we're told:

muMdwvxI mhlw 5 ]

Mundaavanee, Fifth Mehl:

mundhaavanee mehalaa 5

Upon this Plate, three things have been placed: Truth, Contentment and Contemplation.

thaal vich thinn vasathoo peeou sath santhokh veechaaro |

The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of our Lord and Master, has been placed upon it as well; it is the Support of all.

anmrith naam thaakur kaa paeiou jis kaa sabhas adhaaro |

One who eats it and enjoys it shall be saved.

jae ko khaavai jae ko bhunchai this kaa hoe oudhaaro |

This thing can never be forsaken; keep this always and forever in your mind.

eaeh vasath thajee neh jaaee nith nith rakh our dhaaro |

The dark world-ocean is crossed over, by grasping the Feet of the Lord; O Nanak, it is all the extension of God. ||1||

tham sansaar charan lag thareeai sabh naanak breham pasaaro |1|

To me, this validates how Naam can be represented on a plate as food and can be consumed and also recited for spiritual development and the reason why amrit is a big factor in the healing of the spirit if one cannot physically jap/listen to Naam if affected spiritually.

In regards to the spirits being scared of the names of "gods", it is not actually the Names of "gods" as their is only the one Akal Purakh, however the Devtas and devi's depicted in the Hindu faith have existed and still exist today, these should be really seen as extra terrestrial beings who can intervene in these matters as they are of a different creation to us humans. Where one becomes physically weak and the soul becomes spiritually drained by supernatural causes, these entities can come to the au of such a person as how a officer of the law would come to someone who has been somehow a victim of crime.

Don't get yourself caught up in superstitious beliefs of possessions etc. it will get you no where except play games with your mind. My advise to you is devout as much time to naam simran, mool mantar and gurbani. Don't give your mind time to think negative thoughts. Fight any negative thoughts with the power of the Gurmantar. Say it with full devotion , focus and love. Keep your dhyaan locked on jaap until the negative thought passes. I also suggest you seek medical advise to talk through any underlying issues that maybe coming to the surface.

Good luck and god bless

Have you seen any thing in your house? If so what did you see or hear? These things exist, but it seems in your case everything is in your head.

Many times our mind creates what we want to believe is there, but nothing is there. Many after watching a scary movie feel as if something is lurking in there presence. Simply by stepping out of this frame of reference the person is able to escape there own created ghost. When a house gets robbed, the occupants of the house after the incident feel the presence of the robber still in the house sometimes about to attack them one more time. They especially feel this when the robber has not been caught by the police. They also make everyday noises into someone trying break into the house again. They are on edge.

Tell a person you feel something in your presence and if the person drops her mental defensives, she will also feel it even though you lied to them. Look at everything from an objective stand point. Forget for the time being that ghost demons even exist. Note down what your thoughts are that influence you to beleive something is there and note down where you are in the house. Also note down the time of day and how the weather is when you have these feelings. Get someone you trust to look at your notes and talk to you about what you felt at the times you felt something.

Did you ever have a bad experience with water...almost drowned, something else? Some bad experience in a bathroom, kitchen...

Have a fixed routine of your day. Write it down and follow it to the letter.

Spiritual issues within a household or someones life is not superstition or someone getting "caught up". Superstitions and the Paranormal are two very different issues. Not all cases are of someone having a mental issue. Your right though, gurbani is a form of medication to someone having paranormal experiences, however the only way we as sikhs can stop the supply and demand of dera babeh, is by accepting that the sangat can be affected by such issues and establishing a procedure to support the family, rather than ridiculing them.

Also on this sort of topic, I feel someone should have some form of experience within the field, as this issue can be played down by sikhs who do not really have much of an understanding and put it down to superstition. It's like for e.g a male giving a female advice on the best way to go through labour for the first time, I'm sure it's better received if the advice came from a woman who has experienced labour a few times.

I am not stating these things do not exist but to quickly jump in and endorse the concept of possession is not beneficial to anyone let alone the person who is already suffering. This original poster is already tormented by something and beginning to think along these lines because they cannot explain what and why is happening to them. By encouraging this notion you are indirectly pushing them down a very slippery slope into more negativity.

I was watching Panth Time last night on Sikh Channel and one person made a point by saying they asked a "Baba" why they were so quick in giving out shabads to solve peoples problems The Baba replied that 70% of issues are due to problems in the mind and most people are ignorant of that fact. Therefore we suggest to them to devote more time to paath so they can distract their mind by attaching it to the shabad instead and with that most problems will eventually go away.

If the poster cannot successfully do that then I would first suggest they seek medical advice before thinking the solution to their problems is an exorcism of some kind. :nono:

har simarath man than sukhee binasee dhutheeaa soch.
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the mind and body find peace; the thought of duality is dispelled.

naanak ttaek guopaal kee govi(n)dh sa(n)katt moch.
Nanak takes the support of the Lord of the World, the Lord of the Universe, the Destroyer of troubles. :respect:

First fix the problems of the mind and the problems of the body will follow suit.
